Found May 21, 2012 on Fox Sports:
Eighteen wins in a row, and eight more victories to go. That practically sums it up for the San Antonio Spurs, who returned home Monday after sweeping another playoff series and pushed their winning streak into a tie for the fifth-longest in NBA history. The Spurs now get their second extended break of the playoffs before opening the Western Conference finals this weekend at the earliest. They'll play either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Oklahoma City, which can advance with a win Monday night. If the Thunder wins, Game 1 will be Sunday. The Spurs also enjoyed a week to recover between the first and second rounds. San Antonio is back in the West finals for the first time since 2008.

Meanwhile out West the Spurs have yet to lose a Playoff game

The San Antonio Spurs completed their sweep of the L.A. Clippers late last night. This comes after their sweep of the Jazz. While everyone seems to be talking about the Thunder, Lakers, Heat, and Celtics as championship contenders, not sure why the Spurs aren't getting the credit they deserve. Looking at them objectively, the Spurs are similar to the Celtics in terms of an older...

Spurs look like smartest best to win title

LOS ANGELES When the chance came to close out the Clippers on Sunday night, the San Antonio Spurs had to stop Chris Paul, who had been the NBA's best closer this season and finally was starting to play like it in this series. So coach Gregg Popovich turned to Danny Green, who spent the fall playing in Russia, which was considered an improvement from last season when he was...

Duncan happy about Game 4 challenge

Of the eight straight postseason wins so far for San Antonio, only two have been by less than 10 points. Sunday night's Western Conference semifinals clincher over the Los Angeles Clippers was by far the closest call. Even though the Spurs were down by 24 points the day before, they took the lead in the third quarter and won comfortably. Game 4 went down to the final buzzer...

The Western Conference Finals are set. The San Antonio Spurs will tip off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night in what should be a very exciting series. The Spurs won the regular season series with the Thunder 2-1 but you can throw the regular season out the window when you get to the playoffs. Spurs need Jackson to step up vs. Thunder

Back in late March, I was traveling on my way to New Mexico for spring break vacation. While in the vehicle, I sat in the passenger seat during the afternoon part of the drive. At the time, I was tied to my iPhone because it was the NBA trade deadline date. As I sat reloading Twitter to see if the San Antonio Spurs would make a move, the news finally broke that the Spurs had agreed...

Parker: Westbrook in for a surprise

Tony Parker says Russell Westbrook hasn't faced another point guard in these playoffs quite like him. The marquee matchup of the Western Conference finals will be the dueling All-Stars. Parker said Wednesday that his Oklahoma City counterpart is in for something different than what the Thunder saw the first two rounds. Parker said ''it's not going to be like Dallas...

Spurs execute down the stretch to sweep Clippers

The San Antonio Spurs are a professional basketball team. Yet on Sunday evening in Los Angeles against the Los Angeles Clippers, in a closeout game to advance to the Western Conference Finals, the Spurs looked like they were involved in football, soccer, and boxing all at the same time. The boxing part, the way the Spurs and Clippers exchanged leads and made different runs throughout...

Lakers Still Have The Pieces To Dominate

Much as I enjoy watching the Lakers, I knew far enough in advance that they wouldn't make it past round two, and even if they had, the San Antonio Spurs would have beaten them pretty handily. But if they, as a team, can find a way to motivate their key players to perform above their comfort level, and coax Bryant into trusting the group, next season should be much more consistent...

Blake Griffin Needed Some Adversity

Blake Griffin is on the cusp of something tremendous, and it’s all thanks to an embarrassing sweep by the San Antonio Spurs.
