The San Antonio Spurs' small forward woes continue with injuries to starter Kawhi Leonard (left knee quadriceps tendinitis) and backup Stephen Jackson (fractured right pinky). While Leonard will be back sooner than Jackson (out 4-6 weeks), the Spurs are wasting no time in calling up someone to fill in some holes on the roster from the NBA D-League. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Spurs are in the process of calling up former Spur James Anderson from the NBA D-League: With Kawhi Leonard & Stephen Jackson ailing, Spurs in process of calling up Spurs alumnus James Anderson from D-League's Rio Grande Vipers — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) November 20, 2012 This is a very interesting move by the Spurs and one that makes sense. While Anderson was riddled with injuries and disappointing when healthy for the majority of his time in a silver and black uniform, he did have his positive moments as a regular member of the rotation before Danny Green impressed the coaching staff. The comforting thought is that Anderson already knows the Spurs system and doesn't need to learn on the fly. He has played alongside everyone on this roster with the exception of Nando De Colo, who some might argue it won't take much time to get used to playing next to him as his game is close to Manu Ginobili's. To make things more interesting with this move, the Spurs are also interested in signing Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, and Nando De Colo's fellow countryman, Mickael Pietrus: Hearing Spurs do have interest in Mickael Pietrus -- natural w/2 other Frenchmen on roster -- but Pietrus still seeks more than NBA minimum — Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) November 20, 2012 Pietrus is a hard nosed player, similar to Stephen Jackson's mentality. He plays hard, can shoot the 3, and defend multiple positions. One downside of signing Mickael is that he's been plagued by injuries as well the last couple of years. His asking price may be too high too, although playing with some French countryman may persuade him to come cheaper and play for a larger contract next year. What do you Spurs fans think? Is it a good idea for the Spurs to try to sign Mickael Pietrus and what would the Spurs do with the rotation once Leonard and Jackson are healthy again?
