San Antonio Spurs 2012 NBA Draft pick Marcus Denmon is currently playing with French squad Chalon-Elan and is playing quite well. In a few friendly matches, Denmon is averaging 16.7 points leading the team in scoring.
But he is still a work in progress and the Spurs are closely watching his development on the court according to Chalon coach Beugnot Gregor via French site Le Journal .
The Spurs also called last week. They are very sensitive to what is done with him. He is a real project for them. Marcus has already progressed in aggression, especially on pick and rolls. As a leader, it's starting to come. He begins to see the game, to focus on the weaknesses of the opponent. Over time, it will become natural. He still lacks that confidence.
The biggest hurdle for Denmon is something he cannot control - his height. He is a bit undersized for a shooting guard at 6-3 and would be a small point guard for NBA standards.
However, the report goes on to state the Spurs want Denmon to learn both guard positions which should help his effectiveness should he ever make it to the NBA.
There was no way Marcus was going to get any playing time with the Spurs with the amount of guards currently on the roster. Playing professionally overseas should help his development and it seems he is well on his way to improving his game with Chalon.
BEST OF MAXIM

Doesn’t it seem like the Spurs always turn their low picks into quality NBA players. Denmon has potential to be the next great Spurs success story. Had Denmon been a little taller he would have been a 1st round pick. Denmon is best known for his shooting ability. To be shocked for the next to the last pick...

The San Antonio Spurs roster now stands at 19 after they waived guard Sherron Collins today.
Collins was a late addition to the training camp roster, signing with the Spurs on Monday.
While he likely didn't have much time to make much of a dent or show off his skills too much outside of an open scrimmage, Collins was likely on the outside looking in from the beginning...

Well this is going to be interesting. The NBA announced some harsh rules in an attempt to curtail flopping during games And for players like San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili, Anderson Varejao, and other players with flopping reputations, this new rule might hit them the hardest.
However, for Spurs' Danny Green, he feels it is a good rule and says the squad doesn't...
Contributed by guest blogger Frank PalmasaniThey’re old. They’re out of shape. Their best player is old, the second best is now visually impaired, and the third is balding. You’ve heard it all before. It’s no secret. The San Antonio Spurs are an older team. Tim Duncan can still bask in the old days when they traded buzzer beaters and game winners with the “Kobe-Shaq era”...
San Antonio Spurs fans love Manu Ginobili, and some would even argue that he’s not a flopper, but around the NBA, Manu has a reputation for taking a dive every once in a while. Most of the time it works out for the scrappy Argentinean, getting foul calls that he wouldn’t normally get if he didn’t act a bit, but the NBA wants to put a stop to it.
The league announced on...

Two 7-point pillars, in every sense of the word, reside at the opposite ends of Texas. One anchors the south, while the other takes up shop north.
Their differences are as stark as San Antonio and Dallas. Neither city is confused with the other. Just ask the residents.
But for all that's different in the two towns either real or imagined remember both are in the Lone Star...
Stephen Jackson said so far there has been no offer from the Spurs.
The Brooklyn Nets pretty much stole the San Antonio Spurs' look. They copied the black and white color scheme, used it on their home jerseys and even their new home court looks much like the Spurs' home court.
And now Jay-Z and his Nets continue stealing the Spurs' look with their road jerseys which looks much like the old Spurs' road jersey which had "San...
