The young Orlando Magic acknowledge they still have much to learn. They also know they could get an important lesson from their next game. The Magic will attempt to bounce back from the first loss on their season-high homestand Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, who will seek a season-high fifth straight win and eighth in a row on the road. With a new coach, three returning contributors and four rookies, Orlando knows it might take a little while for things to jell. The Magic (5-8) showed some progress with back-to-back wins to open their five-game homestand and nearly earned another Sunday against Boston before falling 116-110 in overtime. Orlando led by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter but committed six of its 19 turnovers in the final period. The Magic have had at least 15 turnovers in each of their last seven contests. "We did a good job of playing against their veteran team," said point guard Jameer Nelson, whose 20 points were one shy of ...

Glen Davis: Doc Rivers is military-minded, Jacque Vaughn is more like Ghandi

Glen Davis is off to a hot start in his second full season with the Orlando Magic. The power forward is averaging nearly 15 points and 9 rebounds per game, and new Orlando head coach Jacque Vaughn has even named him a co-captain along with point guard Jameer Nelson. Davis never really seemed to fulfill his potential with the Boston Celtics, and he recently spoke about the difference...

Magic schedule gets serious

The Magic entered this week's five-game homestand knowing it was an opportunity to set their record straight. The next three weeks really will probably set the Magic toward whatever type of season they will have -- a battle for ping pong balls and some measure of respect at the bottom or a potential surprise Playoff fight. With Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, San Antonio and...

Jameer Nelson Snaps Old Man Paul Pierce’s Ankles Clean Off

Jameer Nelson pulled off one of the most simple non-crossovers I have seen in quite sometime, and it sent Paul Pierce tumbling to the ground. Check out how Pierce’s legs just buckled underneath him as Jameer created more than space. Paul was forced to pick up his jock-strap following the embarrassment. And yes, Jameer missed the shot. Jameer Nelson Teaches Paul Pierce How To Sit Down

Fantastic crossover by the one time all star point guard, Jameer Nelson.  Unfortunately, you need to sink the basket or at least take the ball to the hole if you are going to leave your defender looking like he just had his leg chopped off by a zombie.  Or a fat person falling and not getting up. In related news, the Orlando Magic almost beat the Celtics in this game.  That...

Here’s Jameer Nelson hitting Paul Pierce with a crossover that sends him to the ground

Paul Pierce had a good game in their 116-110 overtime victory over the Magic Sunday night. But while Pierce poured in 23 points on the offensive end, all we want to talk about is how he almost lost a leg on the defensive end to a crossover dribble from Magic guard Jameer Nelson. Gotta move those feet, Paul. The post Here’s Jameer Nelson hitting Paul Pierce with a crossover that...

Orlando Magic Daily Podcast Episode 3

Defenseless: Spurs efficiently dispose of Magic

The Magic's hot shooting had to run out at some point. After making shots seemingly at will in the first three games of this five-game homestand, the Magic were going to regress to their mean at some point. To come crashing down like they did Wednesday might not have been quite what the Magic expected. To lose all focus on the defensive end and allow an opponent to run...

Video: Duncan reaches another milestone, embarrasses Bargnani along the way

It's been fitting for Tim Duncan to be reaching milestones at the end of his career. He's become the San Antonio Spurs all time points leader and broke the NBA's record for all time playoff blocks. So it was fitting for Duncan to reach another milestone: 2,500 career blocks. This block wasn't just an ordinary block though. It was more of a “I hope no one has...

Duncan takes home weekly NBA accolade

That 36-year-old San Antonio Spurs forward everyone said would be over the hill by now is looking as spry as ever and having yet another great season. Like wine, apparently Tim Duncan gets better with age as well, and that couldn't be more apparent than with the NBA's announcement that Duncan has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week. It's also...

5 things to watch: Spurs vs. Wizards

The San Antonio Spurs (11-3) continue their long road trip with a stop in Washington tonight to face the hapless Wizards (0--11).  The Spurs are coming off a thrilling 111-106 double overtime win over the Raptors led by Tony Parker's 32 points and five assist night. Tim Duncan also chipped in with  26 points in the game. The Wizards remain winless in the 2012-13 season...

Contain Parker To Beat Spurs?

For many years, there was one name the opponents of the San Antonio Spurs had to worry about: Tim Duncan. He used to be the main focus of the opposing defense every possession. Now with Duncan being older, he's not the weapon the rest of the NBA should solely about on the team and Jacque Vaughn knows it. Vaughn praised Parker after the Spurs defeated his Orlando Magic on Wednesday...

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Manu Ginobili had 20 points, Gary Neal scored 19 and the San Antonio Spurs earned their fifth straight win, racing past the Orlando Magic 110-89 on Wednesday night. Tim Duncan added 15 points in 27 minutes and Tony Parker chipped in 14 points and eight assists. The Spurs also posted their eighth consecutive victory on the road and have now beaten the Magic...

French Reserves Happy With Their Roles

The San Antonio Spurs are a deep team that keeps winning. When a team is winning, there's rarely anyone that's going to complain about anything, maybe playing time if there are players with egos. The Spurs are lucky to have players who put team first over self during the Tim Duncan era and this year is no different. Frenchmen Boris Diaw (playing in his first full season as...
