San Antonio Spurs
BOSTON -- Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was waiting for Tony Parker to break out. That's just what Parker did Wednesday night, leading San Antonio to a 112-100 victory over the Celtics in the opener of the Spurs' five-game road trip. "This was his best game in a while," Popovich said after Parker scored 26 points and dished out six assists in the road win. "He hasn't really scored, he hasn't been aggressive for whatever reason. He's known it. He's been trying to work through it, trying to put a finger on it, we're not (what it had been) but tonight he played a complete game. "I thought he worked hard on (Rajon) Rondo; I mean, he's so hard to cover, he's so dangerous because he involves so many people; (Parker) did a good job there and on offense he was real aggressive for us and created a lot of stuff, so this is the Tony Parker that we're used to, that we have to have if we're going to beat good teams like Boston.&q...

San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker set the bar high with his season last year. He led the Spurs to the best record in the NBA and got some well-deserved recognition as a potential MVP candidate. Even if he didn’t really have a shot at the award, it was still an impressive showing.
This year has been a lot more up and down. Parker has had a few games where he’s been almost...

The Clippers vs. Spurs has developed into an actual rivalry. After the Spurs bounced the Clippers out of the playoffs last season, Clipper Nation has come roaring back early this season defeating the Spurs for the second time in a week in succinct fashion. Coach Nick from Bball breakdown dissects the game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Boston Celtics in the video above. He shows how Tiago Splitter and Tony Parker's play contributed to the Spurs' victory. On the bright side, he also shows how effective Rondo is at running the offense.
The San Antonio Spurs relied on their veterans Tony Parker and Tim Duncan and on a strong inside game to beat the Celtics 112-100. This pushes the Celtics to 6-6 in the season and the Spurs to 9-3 and the 2nd place in the West, tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rajon Rondo recorded 15 [...]
Against the Indiana Pacers on Friday, the San Antonio Spurs only connected on 2-of-17 three-pointers. The Spurs were also outrebounded on the offensive glass 19-6, and they were down by 17-points at one time in the second half, yet they still won the game.
Winning in a game where all of the above were present can rarely happen when a team has a big three like Tony Parker (33...
The San Antonio Spurs had their work cut out for them from the start before taking on the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night. The Spurs are particularly thin these days, with forwards Kawhi Leonard and Stephen Jackson both nursing injuries. Given that they were missing some key players against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, you could argue that a 92-87 loss is...
With the injuries to Stephen Jackson and Kawhi Leonard, the San Antonio Spurs are missing two of their strongest defensive players in their lineup.
How do you compensate with the missing defense on the wing? Well, with offense.
That’s just what the Spurs did in Boston on Wednesday as they outscored the Celtics 112-100 in a game where six players scored in double figures...

The Celtics took the court against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, in a battle of two of the oldies in Boston. The Spurs came in 8-3, losing 2 of its last 3 games, while Boston came in 6-5, coming off a disappointing loss to Detroit on Sunday. The two veteran teams made it interesting up until about 5 minutes left, when San Antonio really started to pull away. Tony Parker...
Last night the Celtics squared off against a team with one of the best coaches in the league– Gregg Popovich, and they were simply outperformed on both ends of the floor. As I pointed out yesterday, the Spurs and Celtics are in many ways mirror images of one another, with an aging core and valuing similar basketball philosophies. Doc echoed these sentiments when asked about...
This will be a shorter recap for two reasons. First, my computer crashed, taking with it the first slightly longer recap. Second, that was a pretty discouraging game. The defense continued to struggle, the rebounding continued to be utterly absent, and once again, the combination of those two factors doomed the Celtics. Ugh.Let’s get straight into the bullet points. The Spurs are...
The San Antonio Spurs (8-2) will visit the TD Garden tonight as they will face off against the Boston Celtics (6-5) in Boston.
The Spurs are coming off an loss to the Clippers described as "embarrassing" by head coach Gregg Popovich while the Celtics are coming off a big loss to the Pistons, however, Boston has not played since Sunday and will be fresh for this game...
After the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs on November 15 in San Antonio, Gregg Popovich said the following of his oft struggling third year Brazilian big man.
"It is huge because he was shooting 80 percent for most of the season. This is great for his confidence to shoot the ball like that (versus Knicks). Hopefully he can keep it going."
“Of all our games, this game is in the soft category. We never had five guys who competed hard enough to win the basketball game.”
That was San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich on Monday evening after his Spurs fell to the Los Angeles Clippers 92-87 at home.
“The Clippers played aggressively and competed at a top level for 48 minutes,” continued Popovich, “I...
