Heat Post:
In order for the Miami Heat to pick up a big body in the low post to replace Udonis Haslem, the Heat had to let someone go; they chose 36-year old veteran Jerry Stackhouse.
Stackhouse was a solid player and will find a job if there is an injury to a top notch player or a coach gets tired of dealing with a young guy, but he didn’t do much for the Heat and wasn’t going to get many minutes this season anyway.
Sorry to see you go Stackhouse, but you didn’t fit what the Heat need and are replaceable, while a big man such as Eric Dampier is a necessity.
With Haslem on the sideline for probably the entire season after tearing a ligament in his left foot, the Heat had to get a big guy.
Dampier doesn’t even have to score points or be a good inside passer; all he really needs to do is put a body on people, put his hands up, a couple of blocks would be nice but not neccasary, and grab rebounds. This fits Dampier to a tee.
