Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day.
1: The Battle of Los Angeles
That's more than just the last great Rage Against The Machine album now.
I can't get the image of seeing "World Peace" pushing and shoving in the middle of a scrum out of my head. It was that kind of night last night as the Clippers and Lakers engaged in a hard-fought, 96-91 Lakers win.
Metta sat on Blake Griffin. Josh McRoberts got tossed for mixing it up with Reggie Evans. Pau Gasol patted Chris Paul on the head and bumped him as he left the floor (more on that later). And I'm pretty sure Brick killed a guy.
Pau Gasol kept the Lakers in it until Kobe took over in the 4th. Andrew Goudelak outscored Chris Paul 14-4. And LA got itself a couple of good basketball teams that don't seem to like each other. And that's a win for all fans in Los Angeles.
2: Love earning his money
Kevin Love got that huge extension yes...

PBT: There is starting to be a real rivalry is Los Angeles. It showed up in a little end of game sequence from the Lakers win over the Clippers Wednesday night between Chris Paul and Pau Gasol.
How do you even guard this??? Blake Griffin calmly hits a crazy over head lay up in the face of Pau Gasol cause he’s just an athletic freak like that. RIDIC!
Ask the players and they'll tell you it's just another game. Don't believe them.
The Lakers and Clippers share the same city. They share the same court in the same arena. They share some of the same fans. So Wednesday's game at Staples Center has to be more than just another game for these guys. No matter what they say, it really is a battle for LA.
The L.A. teams meet Wednesday for the second time this season and whether it's a real rivalry or not, the Lakers really need a win.Pau Gasol said Tuesday the Clippers must be taken "very seriously." He wasn't joking.
The Los Angeles Clippers held the lead over the Lakers for most of the game on Wednesday night, but were unable to put the game away at any point, and ended up succumbing to the Lakers because of Pau Gasol‘s aggressive play and yet another late-game takeover by a Mr. Kobe Bryant. The Clippers got…
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Just 16 games into their new partnership, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul are already capable of grinding out victories for the Los Angeles Clippers on nights when nothing seems to work properly.
They are both certain the Clippers will find their flow pretty soon.
Griffin scored 20 points, Paul added 18 points and seven assists in his second game back from injury...
Kobe Bryant scored 12 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, Pau Gasol had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Lakers rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit for a 96-91 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
