Stephen Curry has decided to participate in the 3-Point Shootout after originally believed to be leaning against it.
Curry goes up against Ryan Anderson (Hornets), Matt Bonner (Spurs), Paul George (Pacers), Kyrie Irving (Cavs) and Steve Novak (Knicks) in next Saturday’s competition.
This season, when he’s not shimmy shaking or being mauled by Kirk Hinrich’s bear nails, Curry is second in the league for both 3-point percentage (44.9) and 3-pointers made (142).
Curry finished second in the event in 2010, behind Paul Pierce, and cited that as a reason for participating this year:
“I’ve got to avenge my rookie year shortcoming,” Curry said.
After being snubbed for the All-Star Game, Curry mulled an invitation for the shootout, initially sounding unsure about making the trip to Houston for just one event.
