The Los Angeles Lakers are reeling. Currently on a five-game losing streak entering tonight’s big showdown with the San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers have looked sluggish and worn out over the past two weeks. In fact, they’ve looked unhealthy. Well, one member of the team now has an excuse, as backup point guard Steve Blake is out indefinitely with – get this – chicken pox.
Dude, Steve, were you never six years old? How does a 31-year-old man get the chicken pox? Was he hanging out with a bunch of first graders? Wait, wait, no, don’t answer that. I don’t want to know.
Blake is in his first year with the Lakers after signing a four-year, $16 million contract in the offseason. At times he’s looked very good this season, but his play has mostly been disappointing. Blake is currently averaging 4.0 points, 2.2 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game, while shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point range.
