The Los Angeles Lakers finally get their 2013-14 season underway on Tuesday night when they take on the Clippers at home. Sadly, they’ll be without Kobe Bryant, but apart from that everyone else is available to play. According to tweets from Lakers reporter Mike Trudell and ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McMenamin, Steve Nash (neck, ankle) is good to go and Shawne Williams will be the team’s starting power forward: D’Antoni on Nash for tomorrow night’s season opener: “He’s ready to go.” Kaman - who practiced today - also ready to play.— Mike Trudell (@LakersReporter) October 28, 2013 Shawne Williams on if he's starting at the 4: "That's what I've heard"— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) October 28, 2013 Nash might not play on Wednesday night at Golden State seeing it’s the second half of a back-to-back, but it’s hopefully a good sign that he’s ready to go versus the Clippers. Williams starting at the four isn’t that big of a surprise seeing as he started the final two pre-season games for the purple and gold. Chris Kaman is back from his stomach virus but it appears that Mike D’Antoni prefers the smaller line-up. Williams was active on both ends during the pre-season and seeing as he’s 6’9″ he is fairly agile and should be able to stay in front of the 6’10″ Blake Griffin – the game will be much easier for the Lakers if they can make Griffin shoot jump shots all night long. Chris Paul will obviously be the biggest threat on the Clippers and one would assume that Steve Blake will start out defending the talented point guard. It’d also be nice to see Jordan Farmar get a shot at guarding CP3; nobody can stop him, but Farmar may be able to use his youth and athleticism to at least limit Paul’s production. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }
