We do not come to bury the Lakers. We do not quite come to praise them, either. Now that everyone knows the Lakers are not going to go 82-0, the most popular NBA parlor game has become dismissing their championship hopes entirely. To be sure, their start has been awful, both on paper and on the court. Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard entered the season with injuries concerns and now Steve Nash has joined them. It was not a good start for the projected title favorites. How quickly people forget, though. Just as quickly as a team can be crowned champion in the preseason -- from these Lakers to the 2010 Heat to the 1996 Rockets and many more teams before that -- a team can just as quickly be shelved well before a playoff game is ever played. Remember when everybody absolutely knew that Dirk Nowitzki would never win a ring because he choked in the clutch? Remember when the Celtics shambled into last year's All-Star break and fans clamored for a fire sale? We ...

Kobe Bryant to critics: “Shut up and let us work”

According to Kobe Bryant, it’s perfectly fine for him not to be a happy camper about the Lakers’ 0-2 start. But as for the rest you, it’s not. You are not allowed to analyze or criticize the first two games of the Lakers’ season. And if you do, Bryant has these poignant words for you, amongst others: “Shut up and let us work.” Oh and just for good measure, he doesn...

Clippers send Lakers to 0-3 start with 105-95 win

Kobe Bryant stuck his injured foot in an ice bucket and tried to relax. His star-studded Los Angeles Lakers are off to their first 0-3 start in 34 years, and even he isn't sure why nothing is working so far. ''It's particularly hard for me, because I'm not the most patient individual in the world,'' Bryant said. ''But you have to be. You have...

Next NBA Fashion Trend: Man Purses?

First it was the lensless hipster glasses, now it appears that man purses could be the next big fashion trend among NBA players in 2012-2013. At least it appeared that way on opening night in Laker Land when two big named Lakers showed up to the Staples Center with a “murse” in tow. Kobe Bryant (who is no stranger to weird fashion) carried his on a chain while a Bill Nye-looking...

The Clippers' talented forward received some unusual advice from his cross...

Shootaround: Battle Los Angeles

Los Angeles Clippers (1-0) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (0-2) 10:30 p.m./ESPN Kobe Bryant does not want anyone talking about this game. You know, ESPN should probably go ahead and not show it. Because all they will talk about is how the Lakers are struggling to grasp the Princeton Offense and have two losses to their name already. So Bryant is telling everyone to shut up about the...

The NBA Is Back… Somebody Tell The Lakers

The NBA is BACK baby and so are the daily notes.  This morning, fantasy owners were greeted by their players with a trick or treat.  Oh LeBron James (26/10/3/2, 2 3PM), a snickers bar!  Thank you Rajon Rondo (20/7/14, 9-14 FG), I love butterfingers!  Kyrie Irving (29/6/3/0/1, 3 3PM), I can take two?!!  Uh Steve Nash (7/2/4/0/1, 1 3PM), a f*cking apple?  Are you joking me?...
