Each weekend, we will highlight the trends, rumors and stories going around the NBA that we may miss during the busy week.
I noted this in the Starting 5 this morning after Charlie Villanueva hit the game-winning 3-pointer for Detroit in Milwaukee. Charlie Villanueva has had a rought four years. He signed a 5-year deal in 2009 and has failed to live up to expectations.
His minutes have been all over the place and, for someone making $8 million per year on a young team, you expect him to contribute more. You do not expect him to be out of the rotation for long stretches or to miss games with the dreaded "DNP-CD."
That has become Villanueva's reality and now he is back to being a highly paid role player trying to find his way on the team.

The Detroit Pistons would edge out the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday night thanks to a three-pointer by Charlie Villanueva with 10 seconds left on the shot clock (and thanks to a Brandon Jennings airball with four seconds left and from nearly the half-court). Villanueva was planted firmly at the top of the arc when he received [...]The post Charlie Villanueva’s Game-Winner Vs. Milwaukee...
Charlie Villanueva is taking advantage of Andre Drummond's injury (out four to six weeks with a fractured tailbone). Charlie V. lit up the Milwaukee Bucks with 18 points (7-13 FG), knocking down four 3-pointers in the Pistons' 105-100 win.
Villanueva made it a double-double with 13 rebounds, and added an assist and a block in 25 minutes. Another productive outing for...
Back in the summer of ’05, Charlie Villanueva was selected seventh overall by the Toronto Raptors. A versatile combo forward out of UConn, Villanueva was brought north of the border to join budding superstar Chris Bosh in a promising frontcourt for the future. Though Charlie got off to a pretty solid start averaging 13 points per game on 46% from the floor and 33% from downtown...
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks are clearly a frustrated group.
Charlie Villanueva's go-ahead 3-pointer with 9.7 seconds left gave Detroit a 105-100 victory Saturday, sending the Bucks to their third straight defeat and fifth loss in six games.
The ever-so-important three-game stretch of home games before the All-Star break began on a sour note, leaving the Bucks just one...

After dropping three straight heading into the weekend the Pistons capped off an impressive 24 hours with a 105-100 win over the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday night from the Bradley Center. This of course comes after a dominating performance against the league leading San Antonio Spurs Friday night from the Palace.
Detroit used three separate double-doubles to help propel themselves to...
