The danger with the kind of absolute declarations Carlos Boozer made about returning to Utah after the Jazz were eliminated by the Lakers in the playoffs couldn't have been better illustrated Sunday. In his column in the New York Post, Peter Vecsey wrote that Boozer apparently is telling confidants that he will end up in either Detroit or New Jersey after he opts out of his contract with the Jazz and becomes a free agent. Never mind that Boozer still hasn't officially opted out and doesn't have to for another month. Even if Vecsey's got it wrong, some - - and, perhaps, many - - people will believe Boozer is saying one thing while plotting to do another. Of course, I'm not naive enough to think that the Jazz organization isn't up to the same, offering assurances they want Boozer back at the same time they question aspects of his commitment in private.
