Gortat
Phoenix Suns center Marcin Gortat suffered a hairline fracture of his right thumb in Tuesday's preseason game against the Denver Nuggets. Gortat vowed to played through the injury, although he will sit out Thursday's exhibition matchup with Denver. The 6-11 Gortat averaged 13.0 points and 9.3 points in 55 games with the Suns last season after he was acquired from the Orlando Magic. With Dwight Howard entrenched as a starter, he never averaged more than 4.0 points in four seasons with Orlando.

Marcin Gortat tweets he has a broken thumb, it helps his shot

The Phoenix Suns lost their exhibition opener to the Denver Nuggets, which was relatively uneventful… until Suns center Marcin Gortat sent out a couple of tweets postgame. Great start!!! ESPN’s Chad Ford Ranks Phoenix Suns Offseason As One of Worst

In a condensed offseason from the lockout, the Suns were pretty much quiet making moves. They bought out Vince Carter’s contract, brought back Grant Hill, locked up rookie Markieff Morris and signed short-term deals with Shannon Brown, Sebastian Telfair and Ronnie Price. ESPN’s Chad Ford, who has been a heavy critic of Phoenix in recent years, voiced his displeasure over...

Poor Shooting, Turnovers Kill Phoenix Suns in Preseason Finale

If these two preseason games are any indication of what the regular season is going to be like, it is going to be a long season for Suns fans. Phoenix had a better defensive effort, but their woeful shooting caused the Suns to drop their second straight and last preseason game to the Nuggets, 110-85. The Suns got off to a slow start right out of the gates scoring only 16 points in...

Alvin Gentry says Spurs can't beat Suns offensively

The Phoenix Suns. Year after year San Antonio Spurs served up the Suns heartache in the playoffs with hard-nosed defense and not to mention a little luck.It was that tough defense that stymied the Suns' offensive prowess time-after-time in the playoffs and it just seemed the Suns never learned that defense wins out over offense. And it seems the Suns still haven't learned...

Suns waive Mickael Pietrus

The Suns waived Mickael Pietrus after reaching a financial agreement, the team announced via a brief press release press release on Thursday. Phoenix had attempted to trade Pietrus to Toronto for a conditional second round draft pick, but the deal fell through after Pietrus was found to not yet be healed from the knee injury…

Suns Buyout Mickael Pietrus

In a move that was very surprising to me the Phoenix Suns bought out the contract of Mickael Pietrus. Key word being bought out, not amnestied. This means the Suns still have their one-time amnesty to use at another point. What they did instead was pay $4.2 million of his contract and placed him on waivers. The Suns bought out Pietrus’ contract, paying him about $4.2 million...

Swingman Pietrus waived; Phoenix roster at 14

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns have waived swingman Mickael Pietrus after reaching a financial agreement.

Mikeal Pietrus to join Boston Celtics?

Mickael Pietrus, recently released by the Phoenix Suns, is leaning “heavily” towards signing with the Boston Celtics, according to a league source. Pietrus must first clear waivers — that won’t happen until 6 p.m. Saturday — but it’s highly unlikely that any team will want to pick up the $5.3 million he is owed [...]

2011-12 Phoenix Suns Preview

The real big change was losing star power forward Amare Stoudemire to the bright lights of the big city in New York. Without the All-Star, coach Alvin Gentry cobbled together a solid, albeit far less spectacular offensive club but fell off badly at the defensive end.
