By taking advantage of a portion of their schedule loaded with home games, the Phoenix Suns have crept into the Western Conference playoff picture. Their next 3 1/2 weeks are filled with road contests, and that stretch begins Tuesday night in one of the NBA's toughest arenas. The Suns try to extend their longest winning streak of the season to five games when they meet a Miami Heat team seeking its 14th straight home victory. With a 99-86 win over Houston on Sunday, Phoenix (23-22) moved over .500 for the first time and pulled within one-half game of the Rockets for the West's final playoff spot. Michael Redd had a season-high 25 points off the bench, Channing Frye scored 19 and Marcin Gortat added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Suns, who are 11-3 in their last 14 games. "The chemistry is coming together," coach Alvin Gentry said. "I'm not sure how that happens and nobody can tell you how that happens. Guys are feeling pretty comfortable in their r...

At 39, Hill plans to continue playing in NBA

MIAMI -- When Grant Hill showed up in Phoenix in 2007, he thought he would play two more years and retire. So much for that plan. Hill, 39, is in his fifth season with the Suns. And the small forward said before Tuesday's game against Miami at AmericanAmerican Arena he plans to be back next season for another one. "I definitely think I can go another year, maybe two,...

Suns notebook: Different hero every night

It's been a different star each night for the Suns over this 11-3 run that has them back in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. On Sunday, it was Michael Redd's turn to shine brightest. Redd had his biggest night since joining the team, scoring 25 points -- including a run of 15 straight points over a six-minute stretch of the second quarter -- as the Suns...

Despite win, Suns preparing for rough road trip

PHOENIX -- This time, Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry was working on his best deadpan, post-game face. His post-game faces have been fairly pleasant lately. A coach really can dig deep into the repertoire of positive emotion when his team is rolling. But Sunday night's choice was accompanied by counterfeit, one-word sarcasm. "Thanks," he said after being reminded...

Markieff Morris May Have Made The Worst Consecutive Passes In Basketball History

I like Markieff Morris.  How anyone could not like a player who describes himself as a “garbage man” is beyond me.  That being said, he may have made the worst consecutive passes in the history of basketball as the Suns crushed the Rockets on Sunday evening.  Watch as he lazily swings the ball directly to Goran Dragic, leading to a dunk, then beams the ensuing inbound pass...

Phoenix Suns play by play guy confuses Goran Dragic and Marcin Gortat (Video)

Overall, I'm not hard on NBA play-by-play announcers when they make mistakes but this oversight by Phoenix Suns television play by play man Tom Leander is a pretty big oversight.During last night's Rockets/Suns affair, he confused Suns center Marcin Gortat and former Suns guard Goran Dragic (currently playing for the Rockets). He didn't make the mistake just once but twice...

Suns training staff should be on top of Celtics free agent wish list

If you want to make an impact signing at a fraction of the cost of top tier free agents, the Celtics should offer the entire Phoenix Suns training staff 500% raises. Check this stuff out: Over the years, many Phoenix Suns players have not been willing to immerse their bodies in a 50-degree ice bath in the name of recovery and recuperation. Yet, every Suns player this season has...
