The Phoenix Suns won all three meetings versus the Sacramento Kings last season despite being unable to contain DeMarcus Cousins.
Cousins has excelled against the Suns throughout his career, something he'll hope to continue as the visiting Kings try to end a four-game slide Monday night.
This is the first meeting in 2012-13 between the worst teams in the Pacific Division, with Phoenix (9-15) taking all three from Sacramento (7-16) last season. The Suns, of course, had Steve Nash for those contests.
Cousins, meanwhile, averaged 27.7 points and 11.7 boards in those defeats. His scoring average of 22.8 points against the Suns is his best against any opponent, and he's shooting 51.0 percent versus Phoenix - one of three teams he has made at least half his shots against.
Suns center Marcin Gortat will likely be tasked with trying to slow down Cousins. Gortat averaged 16.3 points on 64.5 percent shooting last season against Sacramento.
Teammate Jared Dudley also averaged 16.3...

The Phoenix Suns will be back in black next season. The Suns will bring back their black alternate uniforms from the 1990s for 10 games starting in 2013, the team announced Friday. The duds that legends like Charles Barkley and Kevin Johnson wore while making the Suns a perennial championship contender will make a reappearance as part of the NBA’s “Hardwood Classics” promotion...
PHOENIX -- Losing at home to the Sacramento Kings wouldn't have been the end of the world.
If certain interpretations of the Mayan calendar are on the money, the end of the world will show up on Friday.
But it was only Monday night and the Phoenix Suns were busy making sure they avoided losing to the second-worst team (by record) in the NBA's Western Conference.
Tyler Honeycutt is back with the Sacramento Kings after a five-week stint in the NBA Development League. The second-year forward averaged 10.9 points and 9.6 rebounds in seven games with the Reno Bighorns in the D-League. During his minor league stint, Honeycutt recorded three double-doubles. Honeycutt, 22, was a second-round pick by the Kings in the 2011 draft. He played 15...
Isaiah Thomas and Jimmer Fredette are platooning as the Kings' backup point guard.
Here's a newsflash: The Kings aren't very good. Why? Their pieces are still mis-matched, their pieces still don't work except on paper and in the land of misfit toys, Keith Smart doesn't really seemingly get the most out of his pieces when they are going well, and well it's hard to figure out exactly what pieces are going well in all reality, and oh yeah the chemistry...

PHOENIX -- It took almost a third of the season for the Phoenix Suns to patch together three straight wins. It also took climbing out of a 19-point hole against the slumping Sacramento Kings on Monday to complete the long journey. Shannon Brown scored 14 of his 22 points during Phoenix's 31-point third quarter, and Marcin Gortat added 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks as...
For the second day in a row I am leading in with a player from the Sacramento Kings. Yesterday it was Isaiah Thomas, today it’s Tyreke Evans, he of the knee bone problem that may force him to miss “an extended period of time”. Drats! Apparently the guy can’t move around too well and you do need to move around a little bit to play the basketball. Sooo, where does that leave...
SACRAMENTO -- The Denver Nuggets dominated from start to finish Sunday afternoon and cruised to a 122-97 victory over the Sacramento Kings before an announced crowd 13,327 at Sleep Train Arena. Six Nuggets reached double-figure scoring, while none of Denver's players saw more than 28 minutes of action. Reserve center JaVale McGee led the Nuggets (13-12) with 19 points, and...
