After missing the playoffs last year, the Phoenix Suns made some big offseason moves in an effort to return to the status of a postseason team. Some people, including myself, said that nothing the Suns could do would be enough to make up for the loss of Steve Nash and their lack of talent all throughout the roster. A quarter of the way through the season and it looks like that might be the case. The Suns floated around .500 for a while but are currently on a seven-game losing skid, sitting at 7-15 on the year. Despite the poor showing lately, Suns management does not seem to think the problem is with the coaching staff. Team owner Robert Sarver has backed head coach Alvin Gentry, saying Gentry’s job is safe. We've got confidence in our coaching staff and we're not considering making changes," Sarver said. “It's still early in the season. We're playing worse than our talent, and a lot of that has to do with confidence. It's up to the coaches and play...

Alvin Gentry's Job Safe With the Suns For Now

The Phoenix Suns can only wish they were dealing the problems the Los Angeles Lakers are facing.  The Lakers have a team of stars that can't seem to figure things out.  The Suns have no one.  Their star, Steve Nash, is currently battling a broken leg in Los Angeles.  The team is sitting on a 7-15 record.  And changes need to be made.  However, Alvin Gentry appears to be...

Report: Suns coach gets vote of confidence

The Phoenix Suns' seven-game losing streak won't cost coach Alvin Gentry his job. Team owner Robert Sarver backed the coach Monday in an interview with ESPN. "We've got confidence in our coaching staff, and we're not considering making changes," Sarver told ESPN's Chris Broussard. The Suns were 7-8 before the lengthy slump that has dropped them...

Dragic helps Suns beat clock, Grizzlies

PHOENIX Wednesday night's local prime-time NBA drama didn't exactly scream top-shelf production values. But "One Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest" had an ending that worked perfectly for the home team. For the record, our title-motivating flu was what had prevented Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic from participating in last Sunday's loss to the Orlando...

Robert Sarver: Alvin Gentry's Job Is Safe

Robert Sarver says Alvin Gentry's coaching job is safe.

Dragic's layup lifts Suns past Grizzlies

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns made only one basket in the final four minutes of Wednesday's game, but it was enough to snap their longest losing streak in eight years. Goran Dragic, who missed a layup late against Dallas to prolong what became a seven-game losing streak, atoned with a left-handed layup around Grizzlies center Marc Gasol with five-tenths of a second left and the...

Suns look to avoid first 8-game skid since 2004

The Memphis Grizzlies appeared sluggish their last time out, but three days off and a matchup against the scuffling Phoenix Suns could help them regroup. After beating Phoenix in overtime last week, Memphis opens a three-game trek Wednesday night against a Suns team hoping to snap its longest losing streak in nine seasons. Memphis (14-4) pulled out a 96-89 victory at New Orleans...

Suns 82, Grizzlies 80

Goran Dragic wasn't about to miss another last-second shot. Dragic made a short hook shot from the left baseline with 0.5 seconds remaining and the Phoenix Suns edged the Memphis Grizzlies 82-80 on Wednesday to snap a seven-game losing streak. ''Last time, I missed the easy layup against Dallas so this time I told myself you have to make that one,'' Dragic said...

Grizzlies upended by Suns

PHOENIX (AP) -- Goran Dragic made a short hook shot from the left baseline with 0.5 seconds remaining and the Phoenix Suns edged the Memphis Grizzlies 82-80 on Wednesday to snap a seven-game losing streak. Dragic had 12 points, and Shannon Brown and Jared Dudley scored 15 each for the Suns, who won for the first time since Nov. 27 at Cleveland. Rudy Gay scored a game-high 21 points...

Bradley has become a wide receiver, and a boxer

Nobody can top the Phoenix Suns medical personnel in quirkiness department, that's for sure, but apparently our own coaches and trainers are decent challengers. Camerato's piece on Bradley's rehab process explains why there was a football flying on the sidelines during the warm-ups for 76ers game on Saturday1: It was something we do to help my arm strength,” Bradley...

The Suns Lose Power, Phoenix Grows Cold

The Power Forward situation in Phoenix is dreadful. Luis Scola returned to the starting line up, and only managed to play for 13 minutes. Thanks to terrible shooting, he finished the night 4 points to go with a rebound, assist, steal and block. Markieff Morris, meanwhile, had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. That craptastic line was still better than Scola’s, so he may go...

More than Magic to Suns' seventh straight loss

PHOENIX -- It would be easy (not to mention predictable and reckless) to take a few point-blank shots at the coach. How about a couple of hackneyed zingers aimed at the front office or the team owner? Hey, not a problem. But as the Phoenix Suns seventh consecutive loss was being executed to imperfection on Sunday night, the clarity of their predicament became even more obvious...
