It looks like Superstorm Sandy, hurricane Sandy, or post tropical cyclone Sandy whichever designation it has now, has claimed another sporting event. Here’s a tweet from @richsandomir from the New York Times: “Appears to be true: Knicks-Nets game will be cancelled. Mayor Bloomberg about to announce it.” Howard Beck, also from the paper of record, later tweeted that another source confirms it. Looks like Jay-Z’s big exciting makeover will have to wait, the game tomorrow is off. Probably a good idea given all the devastation that needs to be cleaned up. The announcement will come a day after the N.B.A. said the game would be played. General Manager Glen Grunwald of the Knicks and his Nets counterpart, Billy King, confirmed the postponement. Barclay’s Arena is built above a subway and Long Island Railroad hub, and of course, the MTA underground is flooded right now. Paul M.
