We love it when the Taiwanese animators put their spin on the NBA. The Buss family, however, might not share our enthusiasm for this particular video.
Jim Buss is flat-out called an idiot (he drives around in a "short buss" and wears a bucket on his head). And the Lakers are a bunch of old, walker-using, has-beens who will basically inspire riots as they try to run Mike D'Antoni's "7 seconds or less" offense.
I think it's safe to say the folks in Taiwan were solidly "Team Phil" in this case.
Something tells me that, if Jeannie Buss, and not Jim Buss, was, well, driving the Lakers bus, then Phil Jackson, and not Mike D’Antoni, would be the new Lakers coach. And no, not because Phil and Jeannie were a thing during his previous administrations, though one would have to be naïve to think [...]
Magic Johnson is no longer a part owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, but he's still an influential figure in LA and the NBA community in general. When Mike Brown was fired, Johnson went on the most public of public crusades to get Phil Jackson hired. When that didn't work out, Johnson took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction in Jackson not getting hired (H/T to Kurt...
Magic Johnson has been vocal about his displeasure with the Lakers over the past week, and now he’s taking aim at the team’s leadership.
Magic ripped Mike Brown in an interview with USA Today on Sunday, saying the coach deserved to be fired by the Lakers. He then announced on Wednesday that he had been silent on Twitter the previous few days because he was so upset that the...
Hall of Famer and Lakers legend Magic Johnson lashed out on Twitter and TV on Wednesday at the team's recent decision-making, in particular executive vice president Jim Buss' handling of the team's recent head coaching search.
The day began with Johnson tweeting, "The reason I haven't tweeted in 2 days is because I've been mourning Phil Jackson not being...
As you may figure, the folks over at Next Media Animation have put together another classic clip dealing with the Los Angeles Lakers hiring of new head coach Mike D'Antoni. The ire of their hatred was Lakers vice president Jim Buss who proclaimed in this clip as to be the reason why Phil Jackson isn't back in the city of Angels:
So the Flakers are going with Mike D'Antoni as their new head coach but not without trying to negotiate a third coaching stint with Phil Jackson. Talks fell apart in the last 24 hours though, as Jim Buss and Jackson failed to come to terms over Phil's last request.

Via the LA Times:Mike D’Antoni, not Phil Jackson, will be the next coach of theLakers.“We signed Mike D’Antoni to a multi-year deal,” Lakers spokesman John Black said, mentioning the team’s owner and top two executives. “Dr. [Jerry] Buss, Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak were unanimous that Mike D’Antoni was the best coach for the team at this time.”Probably a conversation...
The hiring of Mike D'Antoni didn't go well with a lot of people and many Laker fans. His fit with the Lakers has been scrutinized even before coaching a single game. But whether you believe in D'Antoni or not, he is now the head coach and mostly likely here to stay regardless of the outcome of the season. After what happened between the firing of Mike Brown and the announcement...
The Lakers have a new head coach but it’s not the one most were expecting. The Lakers have announced a four-year-$12 million deal with Mike D’Antoni. Per Pro-Basketball Talk, D’Antoni was chosen over Phil Jackson partly because the Zen Master’s salary demands and travel options weren’t agreeable to Mitch Kupchak, Jerry and Jim Buss. D’Antoni [...]
The Los Angeles Lakers will no longer be searching for a new coach when they take the floor on Tuesday night, but their newest employee won't be on the bench quite yet.
Two days after hiring Mike D'Antoni as their new head coach, the Lakers will face the San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center.
Los Angeles made the hire late Sunday night, though it remains uncertain when D...
