Found May 04, 2012 on Rumors and Rants:
With Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard out of the mix for the 2012 Olympics thanks to injuries, Team USA has moved to replace them. The US men’s basketball team announced it has added University of Kentucky forward Anthony Davis and Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Hardin to its 20-man roster of finalists for the Olympic team. Howard recently underwent back surgery and will be out for the rest of the season, while Rose tore the ACL in his left knee last week and will soon have surgery. Both men were expected to make Team USA’s final 12-man roster, which will be announced on June 18. From the original group of 20 announced earlier in the year, Rose and Howard aren’t the only stars set to miss out on the summer games. Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncey Billups and Portland Trailblazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge have both also been ruled out for the summer. Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum will also take the summer off. The addition of Harden and Davis bring the roste...

Tyson Chandler is better than Dwight Howard this year

I don’t like as many dunks as I am told I should; no breakaway dunks should ever make a Top 10 Plays. Give me a drive and jam with hands in the face, or a no-look pass alley-oop with a one-handed flush. Those require more skill and toughness than a very tall person merely jumping [...]

Magic don't stand a chance without Howard

ORLANDO Close doesn't count in a lot of things including comebacks. Close counts for nothing in an NBA playoff series. And this one is over. "Unfortunately, 'almost,' doesn't count for anything," Orlando Magic center Glen Davis lamented. Davis missed an eight-foot shot at the buzzer Saturday that could have tied the game and started a second overtime...

Pullin’ for D-Rose

Eye On Sports is hoping for a healthy return for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. Love him or loathe him (I don’t know anyone who does) but if you like pro basketball and the NBA, then you’ve got to be pulling for Chicago Bulls’ electrifying point guard Derrick Rose, the league’s reigning MVP, (okay, until further notice).Rose went down late in Chicago’s Game...

Celtics Can Gain Momentum With Game 3 Win As Eastern Conference Remains There for Taking

You never want to see someone get hurt, but there's no denying that went Derrick Rose fell to the floor last weekend that it helped the Celtics' title chances, even if just a little. With Rose out of the picture, the No. 1 Bulls are far from invincible, meaning the Eastern Conference is there for the taking. Sure, the Heat look good as they take a 3-0 series lead against...

Magic aim to play to strengths in Game 3

Tune into FOX Sports Florida at 7 p.m. to watch the Orlando Magic take on the Indiana Pacers. NBA Magic territory. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Through two games of their opening-round playoff series, the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic have both had moments to laud and lament. Minus Dwight Howard, the Magic owned the underdog tag and successfully stole home-court advantage with a win...

76ers vs Bulls game recap from our friends

It's another gaping problem without Derrick Rose: when the Bulls offense tries to rely on diversity or ball-movement but it mostly just becomes contested jumpshooting. And then there's no bailout option on a given possession to get a higher-percentage chance. John Lucas had a great first-half stint with 11 of his 15 points but outside of that good things were hard...

Russell Westbrook: OKC Thunder’s 6’3” big man

How is the NBA counteracting the dearth of viable big men that are entering the league these days? Simple, teams have started to look more for penetrating point guards like the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook in the draft to help generate points in the paint. Just look at some of the teams in the league now and how they operate. When the game is on the line, the Chicago...

Can Sixers Upset Reeling Bulls?

Analyzing sports can be a very frustrating thing sometimes. It seems like nobody can really predict what will happen on any given day. I guess that’s why somebody coined the phrase, “that’s why you play the games.” More often than not, any attempt at predicting or breaking down an event before it happens ends up making the author look uninformed and illogical, whether that...

Bulls' Thibodeau has nothing but praise for Popovich

If you consider the fact that reigning MVP Derrick Rose missed almost half the season to various injuries, the Chicago Bulls had a hell of a season.  The Bulls still would've had a hell of a season even if Rose hadn't missed all those games.  They finished with the same record as the San Antonio Spurs and looked great, especially on defense even when Rose was out.  Much...

Starting 5: Blowouts, Pacers got jokes, & Chandler "thanks" his teammates

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Blowouts! The San Antonio Spurs are serving notice right now. They are legit. The ghosts of Grizzlies past are being erased in this first round, especially after the Spurs blew the doors off the Utah Jazz. This was a start-to-finish domination for the Spurs, who put seven players...

Picking Up The Ball That The Iceman Dropped

Delmon does not approve. I might be the only one that felt this way, but I admit to being widely disappointed in The Iceman for not using his weekly turd to talk about the fairly newsworthy NBA playoffs yesterday. I feel cheated. Look, I’m all for Biff Tannen and Eddie Harris and Andre The Giant references, but when a veritable ********* of news in your zone of expertise comes...
