Found February 04, 2013 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
I love listening to Mike and Tommy. I really don't like the national TV games because I'm stuck with their announcers since CSNNE is blacked out here. I chuckle when I do the CFTOS and they talk about what a homer Tommy is. That's why I love him so much. Home games mean that Tommy's also tweeting and we get gems like this from him. Caron Butler starts the game 3-3 shooting: "Who did it? The Butler did it!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Tommy still knows his stuff. If it wasn't so much stress he should be an assistant coach. Here he's the master of understatement. Yes. Please cover Griffin. I think they heard Tommy and they did a good job of covering him overall. Griffin with the rebound and score: "You can't let him get a head of steam coming from the corner. I'm sorry...PLEASE! Somebody cover him." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Clippers fans were complaining about the refs, but they missed calls on both sides. Tommy was befuddled by several of them. Pierce called for a debatable travel: "I don't see it. but of course, I'm easily befuddled. The rulebook is befuddling..." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 This call was definitely befuddling. Poor Leandro Barbosa. This is the second time he's been clotheslined and grabbed around the neck and thrown to the ground and it was deemed a regular foul. Turiaf with the foul. Was it flagrant? "Should be... But remember, what's obvious to you and me may not be for them." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Not a flagrant foul... "See... What did I tell you? ANOTHER BEFUDDLING CALL!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 I have no doubts that "Tommy Gun" could still light it up if he wanted to. Mike:"Your jumpshot. In front of you or off to the side?"Tommy: "You want me to demonstrate?" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 And some more Tommy rants against the refs. He certainly was on his game last night. Celtics with the charge: "That was a bogus call. You should call on the guy on the ground.Send that one to the front office!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Lane violation called on Bass: Tommy: "The man pushed him in there... oh boy..." Mike: "It's early in the day."Tommy: "Not my day!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 The Clippers players all mentioned the Celtics' aggressiveness after the game being the difference between the blow out loss in LA and the win in Boston. Tommy's right. The Celtics need to continue to press and to push and to be aggressive. When they let up, they lose big leads like they did last night. But at least they hung on for the win. "Press the issue! Hopefully that's what they continue to do during the second half." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 A Tommy Point for Avery Bradley. I love the "Pit Bulls" in the front court with Bradley and Courtney Lee hounding the opposing guards. Along with the calls that they missed, the refs did get a lot right too. This one especially. Avery Bradley takes the charge."That's a #TommyPoint. Nice hustle." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 I loved this one. Collins did sell this one but he did it gracefully :) And who says Tommy's a homer? He admitted that Jason sold this one but he's right. He's our 7 footer. Collins has been putting in some solid efforts of late. Bledsoe runs over Collins who sets the screen. "I don't care. Point guards don't take down seven-footers. BUT! He's our seven-footer." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 I'm with Tommy! I love this new running style. It reminds me of the 70's and 80's when there was no walking up with court with the ball. They ran and passed. I loved it when they would run the fast break without the ball ever touching the floor. The Celtics are winning with that style again. But when they go away from it and start walking up the court again and the ball stalls, that's when they lose the leads. Barbosa scores on the fast break: "I've been waiting for this for years. It's so easy when you play this kind of basketball." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 All I can say is "Yep!" The Celtics get mugged and it's a regular foul. They give a hard foul and it's a flagrant every time. I wish they were more consistent with their calls on what's a flagrant and what's not. Barnes plows over Garnett for the foul: Tommy:"Wait until one of our guys does that. You know what will happen?" Mike: "He'll get arrested." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Jeff Green is finally using his athleticism and being aggressive. He's finally starting to show what Danny saw in him. I'd still like to see more from him, though. Was pretty amazing that yesterday there were 3 players on the court who all had open heart surgery. Jeff Green gets a #TommyPoint for his block on Blake Griffin — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 Paul Pierce has been great since Rondo went down. He has rediscovered his clutch shooting gene. He has also been giving the team whatever they need - rebounds, assists, points. He's proving how valuable he is to the team. And even more so, he's showing why he deserves to retire a Celtic. Paul Pierce hits the clutch three-pointer to put the C's up five: "ALRIGHT! Perspiration!WHOAH!!" — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 And for his clutch 3 pointer, Paul Pierce wins the Tommy Award. "Whenever you make a shot like Pierce did at the end of the game. You gotta' win the #TommyAward. He prides himself on making these shots." — Tommy Heinsohn (@CSNTommy) February 3, 2013 [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Paul Pierce Wants Lucky, Massachusetts Lottery to Give ‘Real Fan’ Chance to Play With Him (Video)

Paul Pierce wants to play basketball with you. No, seriously. The Celtics’ captain was not impressed by the trampoline-aided aerial acrobatics of Lucky, the team’s mascot, but he is excited at the prospect of playing “H-O-R-S-E” with a “real” Celtics fan. A game from the Massachusetts Lottery offers a chance to play with Pierce, plus other prizes. Check out Pierce’s...

Your Morning Dump… Where Pierce is like the guy from 300

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pierce doesn’t call the shots, but he does have a preference if his bosses make a move. “Maybe we can use some more depth at the big spot after losing Sullinger,” Pierce said. He made it clear, though, that...

The formerly red-hot Los Angeles Clippers had to do battle last night on the road without Blake Griffin.  Griffin has been dealing with a hamstring issue and was a late scratch last night before the game.  Without their star on the court, the Clippers fell to the lowly Washington Wizards. The team made the announcement regarding Griffin shortly before the game.Hamstring strain...

Paul Pierce, Celtics Escape With Victory But Blown Lead Offers Reminder That They Cannot Let Up

BOSTON — Paul Pierce’s shot went through the hoop and the crowd erupted, cheering wildly for a fourth straight victory by the Celtics. Amid the cheers, though, there had to be quite a few folks just sighing in relief, because this game turned out to be a lot more interesting than it had to be. Before Pierce’s 3-pointer nestled into the net with 2.5 seconds remaining to clinch...

Doc, Pierce, and KG discuss 'silly' trade rumors

Awesome round of quotes today from Celtics coach Doc Rivers, captain Paul Pierce, and center Kevin Garnett on the ongoing trade rumors that seem to pop up by the day. The most recent round of rumors have Kevin Garnett heading to Los Angeles for Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe and forward Caron Butler. What do the Celtics think of these rumors? Let's start with Doc. All from (the...

Defibrillators: Boston Celtics hang on over Los Angeles Clippers 106-104

Paul Pierce came up big late against the ClippersI know two things to be true about the 2013 Celtics. The first: If something is too good to be true (ie. a first half offensive explosion and lockdown defense), it likely is. The second: No lead is safe, specifically no lead under 20.Boston tried VERY hard to lose the game in the fourth quarter this afternoon, blowing all but two points...

Rondo-less Celtics Looking to Remain Competitive: Win Three in a Row!

Perhaps team captain Paul Pierce said it best after last Sunday’s thrilling and gritty 102-100 2OT win over the defending champion Miami Heat on national TV…When told that Rondo had a torn ACL that would sideline him for the season Pierce expressed his frustration and then immediately stated…”Guys are gonna have to step up! That’s all I can say!” Luckily, step up is exactly...

Boston Celtics: Time to Sell. But not Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce.

With the recent news that Jared Sullinger will be out for the rest of the season, joining superstar point guard, Rajon Rondo, all hope of contention is lost. They could make a big trade to acquire talent, but it would cost all of their valuable pieces and long-term cap space, which is why Rudy Gay is not in Boston and why Josh Smith will not be in green either. With a healthy Rajon...

Doc Rivers: Media made up trade rumors

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says the recent trade rumors around the teams star players have all been made up by the media. "All from [the media]," the Celtics' coach said

Green Envy: What Clippers Fans Said - 2/3/13

The Boston Celtics finished off their four-game homestand Sunday afternoon with a win over the Los Angeles Clippers. The 106-104 victory was the Celtics' fourth-straight, and they have now won each game following Rajon Rondo's ACL injury. Paul Pierce's 22 points led the way for the Celtics, who withstood a furious fourth-quarter comeback bid by the Clippers. Let's...

Comments from the Other Side - Magic 2/1

What would a Comments post be without a wheelchair mention and some officiating complaints.   Seems like they are in every thread.  Love that our bench is producing so well these past few games.   I was stuck with the Magic feed last night.  I missed Mike and Tommy but even worse, they kept getting the names of the Celtics wrong.   I've highlighted my favorites.  What...

Your morning dump…where Toronto is actually pretty good

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I’ve watched a couple highlights with (Gay) and (DeMar) DeRozan and they seem pretty explosive,” said Paul Pierce. “I’ve seen them put up some numbers… So when you add a talent like Rudy Gay to go along...

Kevin Garnett on Trade Rumors: “I Bleed Green, But It’s a Business”

I am on record saying that the Celtics window has closed and it is time to blow up the team. KG and Paul Pierce would be considered valuable assets to teams who are in a position to make a NBA Finals run.  Every trade should be explored by Danny Ainge at this point. KG has a no trade clause, but from these quotes it appears if the right trade came around he would be interested....
