Found December 17, 2012 on Knickswag:
Just last year I foolishly put all my hopes and dreams into a young man who came out of nowhere to captivate the sports world after being just an afterthought at the end of D’Antoni’s bench. A young man, who when given his chance, dropped 25pts on Deron Williams, hit an incredible buzzer beater against the Raptors, then a remarkable 38pts, 7 asst. performance against the LA Lakers. A performance that literally had me running through the house with my son in my arms. A young man that single handedly settled a cable dispute destine to go on for an entire season. A young man that put the Knicks back on the national stage after Amare’ had taken them from out the Dark Ages. The young man I speak of is of course, Jeremy Lin. Jeremy returns back to the birthplace of “Linsanity” Monday Night as the Knicks face the Houston Rockets. Lin returns not as a conquering hero but as the enemy after spurning the Knicks’ reported contract offer to sign a free agent 3yr. 25 million dollar deal with the Houston Rockets. A deal that sparked so much debate that it split the fan base right down the middle as half screamed “mistake” while the other half screamed “smart move”. Regardless of where you stood, we all can agree now that the Knicks were correct in not matching the Rockets offer. Their refusal not to match that ridiculous contract allowed the Knicks to bring in Jason Kidd and Ray Felton, who for half the money have combined to be 3x the player Jeremy Lin could ever dream to be, while leading the Knicks to an Eastern Conference best, 18-5! Linsanity was an unforgettable time for Knicks fans, but ultimately winning a championship is the only memorable moment that matters in the end. While Lin’s departure netted him unforeseen millions and sparked debates around the country, it also ironically put the Knicks in position to end the franchise’s 40 yr title drought. For that, let’s show our appreciation when he comes home Monday Night.   Charles R.
