Found December 14, 2012 on With Leather:
Back in November, I tasked the With Leather readers with choosing an NBA team for me to support, and the unanimous decision was the Houston Rockets. I’ve done my best to be a Rockets fan, weathering a James Harden sprained ankle and every Jeremy Lin game that wasn’t his one good one, but this clip of the team singing the Hanukkah classic, ‘I Have A Little Dreidel,’ may be a bridge too far. Is there a way to classify this anti-Semitic?Seriously though, I know it’s all in good fun, but I think the holiday updates are getting to me. At least you guys didn’t try to make me a Mavericks fan. Here are those poor guys trying to sing ‘Sleigh Ride.’“Trying” is the key word, here.So … yeah, Texas basketball at Christmas is looking pretty depressing, and the Spurs are too busy wrapping packs of socks and underwear to give as gifts to record carols. Maybe I should look outside of Texas. What are the Hornets up to? I can just like them. They’re gonna be pelicans! Pelicans have no f**king ide

Harden leads Rockets over Celtics

James Harden scored 21 points and Greg Smith added 20 to help the Houston Rockets to a 101-89 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday night. Harden had 10 points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal in the third quarter as Houston built its lead. The Rockets used a 9-2 run capped by a 3-pointer by Harden to open the period and go on top 52-47. They never trailed after that and...

Jeremy Lin, Houston Rockets Sing Awful Renditions of ‘The Dreidal Song’ (Video)

Jordan Farmar may be at least one example of an NBA player to suit up in the Israeli Super League, but overall there aren’t many Jewish players in professional basketball. Perhaps that’s why it looks like the Houston Rockets need to do a little brushing up on the melody and lyrics of “I have a Little Dreidel” — otherwise known as “The Dreidel Song.” Apparently someone...

Lin lurking in All-Star vote

LeBron James and Kobe Bryant are the leading vote-getters, while Jeremy Lin has a chance to bring Linsanity to the NBA All-Star game. Lin was running third among Western Conference guards behind Bryant (639,419 votes) and Chris Paul (353,603) when the NBA released the first All-Star balloting update of the season Thursday. Lin was a little more than 55,000 votes behind Paul as he...

Harden's return sparks Rockets past Wizards

HOUSTON -- Rockets guard James Harden returned from a one-game injury hiatus and provided the Houston Rockets with a scoring punch that, considering the opponent, few anticipated would be so sorely needed. With the lowly Washington Wizards refusing to relent on the heels of their first road win, Tuesday night in New Orleans, the Rockets struggled before pulling out an unsightly...

Pieces falling in place for young Rockets team

HOUSTON The most difficult part of Greg Smith's night came after the final buzzer, when a childhood hero told him he'd had a great game. Kevin Garnett, who entered the NBA when Smith was 4 years old, approached the Houston Rockets' second-year big man after Houston's 101-89 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday at Toyota Center, and offered a quick word of encouragement...

Rockets 99, Wizards 93

James Harden scored 31 points to lift the Houston Rockets to a 99-93 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. After suffering a sprained ankle last Saturday against Dallas and missing Monday night's loss to San Antonio, Harden returned to lead the Rockets to their first victory under coach Kevin McHale in more than a month. The Wizards threatened late in the...

Wizards passed on Harden

James Harden has already proven that he is capable of success outside of Oklahoma City. Before he was traded to the Houston Rockets, there were worries that Harden was just a product of a system, playing opposite two of the best players in the game and he would flounder if he had to carry a team. The Rockets are not blowing away the competition by any means, but at just a game...

Celtics-Rockets Live: James Harden, Chandler Parsons Could Present Problems for C’s

10 a.m. ET: When the Celtics last took the floor against a Texas opponent, they played 10 minutes of free basketball. After a day off from practice to recover from that tough win over the Mavericks, the Celtics hope for a much shorter, much easier victory over the Rockets. Houston is led by James Harden, who came over from Oklahoma City in a late preseason trade and has become unquestionably...

Rockets knock of Celtics, 101-89

After trailing the entire 4th quarter, Paul Pierce gave the Celtics signs of life with a big 3 that cut the Houston lead to 88-83.  On the next possession Rajon Rondo poked the ball away from James Harden and dove for the steal, but couldn't quit come up with it.  Harden then buried a deep three to stretch the lead back to 8 with 4:41 to go.  Boston would never get any closer...

Celtics Fall to Rockets 101-89

The Celtics' road trip didn't get off to a good start as they dropped the first game 101-89 to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets got off to a fast start and it looked like the Celtics weren't going to show up at first as they raced out to a 17-4 start. But the Celtics clawed back and finished the half with a 45-43 halftime lead as a 3 by Harden missed at the buzzer....
