Dallas Sports Rant:
(Photo Credit: Issac Baldizon/NBAE via Getty Images) As it turns out, yesterday was a pretty active day for the Mavericks. They must have seen my tweet begging them to break their silence. In a move that happened last evening, Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson made a trade that heavily favors the Mavericks. They sent Ian [...]

Chris Kaman may need a primer on what constitutes "big news." Moments before announcing that he had signed a one-year deal with the Mavericks, the 7-footer out of Central Michigan tweeted a photo of a dead rodent he found in his gym Wednesday morning as "part of the big news." "I think it's a muskrat?!" Kaman wrote. We'll take your word for it...
Brendan Haywood has been waived by the Dallas Mavericks, who designated the 7-foot center as their amnesty player.
With the move Thursday, the Mavericks took advantage of the one-time provision in the new CBA allowing them to let Haywood go without his remaining contract counting against their salary cap or luxury tax. Haywood is set to make $8.3 million next season and is due ...
The Dallas Mavericks struck out on free agent priority Deron Williams, a loss that set back the franchise's hopes of contending for another title in the twilight years of Dirk Nowitzki's career. Then Dallas opted not to match a contract offer the Boston Celtics made to Jason Terry, and days later, Jason Kidd stunned the franchise by passing on the Mavericks' offer to...
The Dallas Mavericks are set to sign free agent center Chris Kaman, reports The Dallas Morning News.
The deal is expected to be for one season.
Kaman confirmed the news himself via Twitter.
"Partnering up with @swish41 (Dirk Nowitzki) and heading to the Mavs..." Kaman posted on @ChrisKaman.
Kaman spent last season in New Orleans, playing in 47 games and averaging 13...
Free agency wasn't going initially well for Dallas. Deron Williams didn't work out, nor did Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash, or any other Point Guard they tried to acquire. They didn't appear to have enough ammo for a real shot at Dwight Howard, and then Jason Kidd left along with Jason Terry. But I do have to say the Mavs recovered nicely yesterday. Vey nicely I think.
Brendan Haywood was re-signed by Dallas during the 2010 offseason.
The Indiana Pacers are sending point guard Darren Collison and wing player Dahntay Jones to the Dallas Mavericks for center Ian Mahinmi, according to the agent for one of the players.
Mark Bartelstein, who represents Jones, confirmed Thursday that the deal is in place.
''That's going to happen,'' Bartelstein said.
The Mavericks are adding 7-foot center Chris...
The Dallas Mavericks finally delivered something to their fans this offseason. And while rifle-wielding, deer-hunting Chris Kaman clearly isn’t Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, or even Jason Kidd, he still is a decent consolation prize.
Kaman confirmed the signing on Twitter, then expressed his excitement for Texas’ gun laws (or lack there of).
The Dallas Mavericks have won their bid for the services of veteran big man Elton Brand, per a report from Y! Sports Adrian Wojnaworski: The Dallas Mavericks have successfully claimed Elton Brand off amnesty waivers, a league source tells Y! The Dallas Mavericks claimed Elton Brand off amnesty waivers, the team announced. The Mavs submitted a winning bid $2.1 million, sources told ESPN.com. Brand had been released Wednesday by the Philadelphia 76ers. "Excited," Brand told ESPN.com. "I figured that I'd be claimed (off waivers) and that's definitely the destination I was hoping for. It's...
When Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin went down with a torn meniscus in his left knee at Olympic training camp in Las Vegas this week, somewhere in Dallas, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban probably couldn't help but mutter a quiet "I told you so" -- even if only to himself.
Cuban's presumed rancor, of course, wouldn't be intended for Griffin, who, through...
First thing Wednesday morning, The 75-Member Staff noted that Mark Cuban had followed Chris Kaman on Twitter. Last thing Wednesday afternoon, the former All-Star center was tweeting about his love of 'Texas gun laws' and his excitement over 'partnering up with Dirk and heading to the Mavs.'
One of the biggest gripes about the Olympic games featuring NBA talent comes from owners – Mark Cuban being one of the more vocal – is the concern about injury while playing in the games. Clippers star Blake Griffin, who just signed a 5-year-$90 million deal with the franchise, twisted his left knee Wednesday during [...]
