The Milwaukee Bucks sign former Duke prospect to training camp deal
USA TODAY Sports

The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly signing a 6-foot-10 big man for a training camp deal. Eric Nehm of The Athletic reported that the Bucks are signing Marques Bolden as they gear up for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season, which is just a little over a month away.

Bolden went undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft but was able to join the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Unproductive two NBA seasons

The naturalized Indonesian big man played two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers but hardly made an impact.

In his two seasons with the Cavaliers, Bolden played for just seven games and averaged 1.0 points, 1.1 rebounds, 0.4 steals, and 0.3 blocks in just 4.6 minutes per contest.

Bolden last played for the Salt Lake City Stars, an affiliate of the Utah Jazz in the G-League. In the recent season in the G-League, Bolden had 4.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 41.7% from the field in three regular season games.

Bolden also saw action in three Showcase Cup games and was good for 2.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per contest.

Second training camp deal with the Bucks

Bolden played for three seasons at Duke, and in his final year, where he played 35 games, including 21 starts, Bolden averaged 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 57.9% from the field.

According to Nehm, Bolden also signed a training camp deal with the Bucks last offseason but was eventually waived before the start of the 2022-23 season.

With Milwaukee’s stacked frontcourt led by Giannis Antetokounmpo , Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis Jr., it is highly unlikely that Bolden will be able to crack the Bucks’ regular roster.
