After hearing so much in the last few weeks about how Mehmet Okur was likely to opt out of his contract, how he had teams in Turkey waiting as fallback options, how he wanted to be paid like one of the eight to 10 top centers in the NBA and how he might not be so interested in a contract extension in the first place, comes news tonight that Okur has agreed to a two-year $20.8 million extension. It's a good reminder that actions, not words, are the only thing that's important when it comes to free agency and such. There are a lot of different conclusions you can draw about the Okur extension and I'm not sure anyone will be able to render a verdict until after the 2011-12 season. --It's a great deal for Okur: Just consider the fact that he's going to be getting a raise the two seasons after this one.
