Three standouts from Bucks' preseason opener
Milwaukee Bucks forward Jordan Nwora. Michael McLoone-USA TODAY Sports

October is a great month for sports. Major League Baseball is wrapping up the regular season and heading into the playoffs. Football, both professional and college, has been underway for weeks. Not to be outdone, both the NHL and NBA start their preseasons in October.

The Milwaukee Bucks, who recently started their team’s training camp in Milwaukee, played their first preseason game on Saturday night. While they lost 107-102, there were three performances that should make fans excited.

Jordan Nwora

The Bucks signed Jordan Nwora after a long offseason of speculation surrounding his future with the team. While it is still a mystery of how many minutes Nwora will get, he sure made the most of his start on Saturday night. Without Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, the young sharpshooter received plenty of minutes. He delivered with 21 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in 28 minutes. He shot 7/15 overall from the field, including 2/6 from three. Nwora was also 5/7 from the free throw line.

There was a great deal of speculation that Grayson Allen would be dealt this offseason. That did not happen, and he is back with the Bucks for a second season. Allen had a pretty good night from the floor, shooting 6/14 overall and 3/6 from three. He finished the game with 15 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Bucks feel like they may have something special in Sandro Mamukelashvili. He still has developing to do, but he showed some flashes of the type of player he can become against the Grizzlies. “Mamu” finished the game with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench. He shot 6/11 from the floor, including 1/5 from three. He was also 2/2 from the free throw line.
