Thunder-Sixers: Ty Jerome shines in blowout loss

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s losing streak has extended to 14 games, tying their franchise record. The Thunder have played a recent stretch of competitive games ahead of the 121-90 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers are gearing up for a playoff run as they are in the second seed in the Eastern Conference at 40-21 on the season. MVP candidate Joel Embiid was dominant with 21 points on 6-10 shooting in only 23 minutes.

The Thunder are now just one and a half games behind the third-worst seed in the NBA, which would give them the third-best odds in the draft lottery.

Although the losing streak was extended to 14, the Thunder are looking for improvement and development in their young players. “We’ve been losing games, but if we can develop the guys while competing our hardest, that’s all you can ask for. Poku and Baze have been great,” said Kenrich Williams.

One bright spot in the blowout loss was the second year point guard, Ty Jerome, as he scored 22 points on 8-12 shooting (4-8 for three). “Ty sees the floor well. Has a really high IQ. It’s easy to play with him. Ty’s been great,” said Williams on Jerome.

Darius Bazley added 14 points and seven rebounds. Baze has averaged an impressive 18.6 PPG in nine games since returning from injury.

The Thunder’s recent addition, Charlie Brown Jr., was able to debut for the squad tonight. Brown scored five points, knocking down a three-pointer and two free-throws.
