PRO HOOPS CENTRAL:
Los Angeles Lakers
Oklahoma City Thunder
When the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, before the NBA campaign began; many longtime observers of the Association expected the franchise would be riding high all season. The club’s fortunes have yet to match those expectations; case in point; if the regular campaign ended on Friday night, the Lakers would not be in the Post Season mix; after falling short in their comeback attempt against the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-108. Los Angeles would valiantly tried to win the contest at the Chesapeake Energy Arena; bouncing back after being down by 19 points in the third, to cut their deficit to four points with 15 seconds to play, but could not get over the hump, as the Thunder held on for the win.
Kevin Durant led the game in scoring, knocking down 36 points for the evening, while Russell Westbrook had 33 points for the night. Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant, once again attempted to win a game playing one on five ball, but his 35 points were not enough ...

Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant went at each other during their game against the Hornets!
Well it was just a matter of time right? We’ve all heard the rumors of Dwight Howard not being very fond of Kobe Bryant in the past. Well the build up of all the losing the Los Angeles Lakers have been doing and frustration of defensive breakdowns finally came to fruition early in the first...
Tweet Dwight Howard has been in the news alot lately whether it’s been for his poor free-throw shooting (104-218 for a career-low .477%) or a minor exchange with Kobe Bryant during a recent game. Away from the court the Los Angeles Lakers center is as entertaining as any player in the NBA and the [...]
Similar to Ricky Rubio and backyard wrestling, Dwight Howard gives ghost hunting a try in this new Foot Locker x adidas commercial:
Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant want this partnership in Los Angeles to work. Lakers fans want this partnership to work. But make no mistake about it; there are legitimate reasons why this could fail.
You have Kobe still wanting everyone to know that the Lakers are still his team. And though Howard wants you to believe he’s cool with that, he really isn’t.
And on the flip-side...
Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash, who is tied with Mark Price for the best free throw shooting percentage in NBA history at 90.4 percent, offered to help Dwight Howard shoot free throws during Friday's shootaround, but he wasn't having any of it.
"Listen, he was just suggesting some things, but it's not something that we've already talked about or anybody...
According to Lakers beat reporter Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers were watching the Celtics-76ers game in the locker room before their game against the Thunder tonight and were impressed by Rajon Rondo's near triple-double in the first half (he went on to secure the triple-double in the 3rd quarter). Dwight Howard chimed in that "the game just comes easy to him:"...
Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant, who is now at 10,517 career points after scoring 36 in the Thunder's 114-108 victory over the Lakers Friday night, remembers growing up and watching Kobe Bryant dominate.
“I didn't really get to see a lot of Jordan in his prime,” said Durant, who then playfully took a jab at Bryant. “But seeing Kobe, I know he's an old fart.”...
Roy Hibbert is coming for your title, Dwight Howard. He might not be coming swiftly, or very directly, but he is coming. Hibbert intends to be the best center in the NBA one day, supplanting Howard as the elite of that position, the struggling Pacers center declared while denying that he posted a photo with “#[expletive]Dwight” on Instagram. Hibbert’s offensive decline has...
David Stern is at it again, wanting to change the rules of the NBA. This time it's after the Houston Rockets were able to effectively use the "hack-a-Howard" strategy to foul Dwight Howard away from the ball (not just in the final 2 minutes) and earn a comeback victory after Dwight missed about 50% of his free throws.
From NBC Sports:
David Stern is all about the...
Even Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard are cringing after watching this horrendous attempt from the charity stripe. Seen here is Appalachian State junior Brian Okam releasing unarguably the worst free-throw attempt in the history of basketball. Disclaimer: The faint of heart may want to shield their eyes. The end result is quite brutal. The now infamous moment came during...
I pounded on the Lakers yesterday, and I mine as well do it again. After all, I’m not a huge Kobe Bryant fan nor do I pretty much like anyone on the team. Dwight Howard, the whining baby who wanted out of Orlando, and Co. deserve this sh$t. Thanks to TerezOwens for the picture….
This was the summer of the center, even the summer of the centers. In the NBA today, it's so rare to hear centers, plural, for there to be so much discussion of big men, period, and so there was reason to think that it might carry over. Dwight Howard was shipped to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the 76ers, and there was reason to think that Howard might be the missing piece in the...
