PHILADELPHIA -- Reserve guard Alexey Shved scored 17 points, and Josh Howard added a season-high 16 in his third start of the season as the Minnesota Timberwolves drubbed the Philadelphia 76ers 105-88 Tuesday night. Howard, who started at small forward when Andrei Kirilenko did not make the trip because of back spasms, entered the game averaging just 5.9 points a game. He shot 7-for-12 from the field and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds. Shved, who was shooting 38.9 percent from the field, went 5-for-8 from the floor. The Timberwolves (8-8) shot 53.2 percent (41-for-77) en route to their second straight victory. They also nailed a season-high 13 3-pointers in 25 attempts (52 percent). It was the most 3-pointers the Sixers have allowed in a game this season. Evan Turner topped the Sixers with 19 points. Philadelphia (10-8) lost its second game in a row. Minnesota forward Kevin Love, playing his seventh game since returning from a hand injury, shot 2-for-10 and finished wi...

Wolves Monday: Shved clutch off bench

MINNEAPOLIS A month into the season and just 15 games into Alexey Shved's NBA career, the Timberwolves wouldn't think twice about drawing up a play to get the ball to the guard late in the fourth quarter. It's the ultimate statement of confidence, but it's also deserved; Shved has scored more than half of his career points in the game's final 12 minutes and seems...

Video: Love, Timberwolves release funny holiday commercial

Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Love and his teammates released one epic and hilarious video just in time for the holidays. Love is once again having a coat drive for the Minnesota area and to get fans into the giving spirit, Love and a few of his teammates made a cheesy video to inspire the masses. With J.J. Barea looking longingly into the camera, and blowing kisses to...

Shved Playing Well Enough To Start, Wolves To Keep Him In Reserve Role

Alexey Shved has become the best offensive option off the bench for the Timberwolves.

Wolves Tuesday: 3-pointers not falling

MINNEAPOLIS It's impossible not to have faith in Kevin Love, but in his first weeks back this season, I've found myself holding my breath during every 3-point shot he attempts. It hasn't been pretty; he's shooting just 19.4 percent from long range. Of course Love is still getting his shooting back after five weeks out, and with the strides he made from long-range...

Love gets assistance as Timberwolves smack Sixers

PHILADELPHIA -- All-Star forward Kevin Love routinely records double-doubles for the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Tuesday night, though, it was his teammates who redoubled their efforts. Reserve guard Alexey Shved scored 17 points, and Josh Howard and J.J. Barea recorded double-doubles as Minnesota ripped the Philadelphia 76ers, 105-88. Love, playing his seventh game since returning...

Wolves Wednesday: A Saints connection?

MINNEAPOLIS So you've read my story about SportVU cameras in the NBA that posted today, right? RIGHT? Well, assuming you have, which you should, here's some more information about the platform the Timberwolves use along with the camera data. When Matt Bollero, the basketball operations assistant who pitched the idea of SportVU to the Timberwolves, initially began talking...

Will these cameras make box scores obsolete?

MINNEAPOLIS Pass, pass, shot. Pass, turnover. Rebound, shot, rebound, turnover. Dribble, dribble, dribble. For nearly every game at the beginning of last season, R.J. Adelman's handwritten notes were detailed, copious. They came not just from his time on the bench but from the hours he logged in his office after games watching video. Win or lose, the Minnesota Timberwolves...

Redemption Time for the 76ers

Well it would be far from a stretch to say that the Philadelphia 76ers have been particularly impressive in the last few games. Also after a disappointing loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night, 93-88, the Sixers need to find a spark in their offense to bring more hope back to the "City of Brotherly Love."  There needs to be an understanding that Jrue Holiday and...

No Love: Celtics top Timberwolves 104-94

Maybe my title is a little bit of an exaggeration; Kevin Love scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. But Timberwolves puns are hard, so sue me.This game was both closer and not as close as the final score indicated. The Wolves led by four at halftime and trailed by just seven at the end of the third quarter. But the Celtics’ defense locked down in the 4th, stopping Minnesota...
