The Minnesota Timberwolves need to pick up the pace if they want to stick around in the Western Conference playoff race. While the Sacramento Kings have a ways to go to get back in the mix, they looked nothing like one of the weaker teams in the league their last time out. Hoping to avoid a fifth loss in six games, the Timberwolves continue a seven-game road swing Sunday night seeking a third straight win over the Kings. Lurking just outside of the playoff picture for much of the season, Minnesota (22-23) may be on the verge of falling out of contention. The Timberwolves have played the last four games without rookie standout guard Ricky Rubio, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL on March 9. After opening its trip with a 127-124 win over Phoenix on Monday, Minnesota suffered a 111-105 overtime defeat to Utah on Thursday and fell 97-92 to the Los Angeles Lakers the following night. Kevin Love had 27 points and 15 rebounds Friday for his NBA-leading 37th double-double, but the ...

Lack of teamwork deals Wolves frustrating loss

On Sunday, mid-March seemed a lot like early January. Darko Milicic started, and Anthony Randolph played rather than sat out as a healthy scratch. There were 21 Minnesota turnovers -- far too many -- and the Kings scored 29 points off of them en route to a 115-99 blowout. Sounds a lot like the Timberwolves of two months ago, no? Some things have stayed constant this season. Milicic...

Kevin Love and J.J. Barea had a few words on the Timberwolves’ bench last night

The first half of the NBA season was filled to the brim with goodness in Minnesota. The young Timberwolves looked to be finally turning the corner and were actually looked like a team with a pulse. But in the past month, they’ve lost Ricky Rubio to a season ending injury and they’re now in the middle of a three game losing streak. Frustrations are obviously high and those frustrations...

Adelman a steady hand through trade rumors

With each passing day, the Minnesota Timberwolves are more and more coach Rick Adelman's team. Players are buying into his system, and he commands a respect that's of a rare magnitude. He's unquestionably in charge, but this week marked the second time this season that Adelman was for the most part powerless. The first such instance came in the days leading up to Jan...
