The "wow, David Kahn really likes point guards" class of jokes was starting to wear a little thin. Sure, he'd signed what seemed to be dozens of them over the course of his tenure in Minnesota (I'm not sure of the actual number. You can go here to try to count for yourself. I tried, but started to go cross-eyed), but that's all in the past.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are closing in on a deal with free agent point guard J.J. Barea. Two people with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Monday that Barea could have a deal finished as early as Tuesday. The people requested anonymity because the deal has not been announced.
A first impression says Ricky Rubio will fit nicely with the Wolves as a ball distributor.
