Minnesota Timberwolves rookie point guard Ricky Rubio underwent reconstructive surgery on his left knee Wednesday. Rubio suffered two torn ligaments in the waning seconds of a game against the Los Angeles Lakers on March 9. The injury will force him to miss the London Olympics this summer. Rubio hopes to be back on the court in nine months. The 21-year-old averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists in 41 games for Minnesota this season.

Rubio's knee has additional damage

This week, rookie Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio underwent surgery on his injured knee and it was discovered that not only did he have a torn ACL, his LCL was torn as well.

Rubio injury halts Wolves' renaissance

A month ago in a hotel room in Orlando, the Timberwolves were buzzing. The team had a reason to be excited for the first time in a very long time. At .500 and the Playoffs within site, the Timberwolves actually mattered at the All-Star Break for the first time in a long time. I talked with Timberwolves media relations staff at the All-Star Weekend and they were ecstatic with having...

Timberwolves expect Rubio back in 6-9 months

The Minnesota Timberwolves do not expect the revelation of a torn lateral collateral ligament in Ricky Rubio's left knee to significantly affect his timeline for a return to the team. Rubio injured his knee late in a game against the Lakers on March 9. The team initially announced that he tore the ACL when his knee buckled while trying to guard Kobe Bryant. When Rubio went...

Rick Adelman rips Darko Milicic for being lazy and out of shape

Darko Milicic began the year as the Timberwolves’ starting center but has since fallen out of favor and watched Nikola Pekovic replace him. Now the Timberwolves are temporarily keeping Pekovic, who’s been hampered by injuries to both ankles, out of action for a while. And even though Darko is the next center listed on Minnesota’s depth chart, don’t expect coach Rick Adelman...

Wolves record hurts Love's MVP chances

MINNEAPOLIS The chants don't matter. MVP! MVP! MVP! They're flattering, but if every player on the receiving end of those cheers won an award, it would be reduced to something akin to an honor roll bumper sticker, an uncomplicated badge that, hey, you're pretty good, I guess. And really, being the NBA MVP is about a lot more than being good. It's not even a measure...

Video: T'Wolves sing Britney Spears song

The Minnesota Timberwolves have released their 2nd video is a series or viral pieces which will either make you laugh or cry. The first featured Darko Milicic listening to pop music and now we are treated to a large amount of the Timberwolves singing Britney Spears “Baby One More Time” karaoke style. You have to give it the Timberwolves players and marketing staff some...

Scouting the Timberwolves: Spurs’ backcourt might be too much for Rubio-less Wolves

The San Antonio Spurs (29-14) return home from a split road trip as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves in the last matchup of the regular season between the two teams. Much has changed since these two teams met back in late January. Rookie sensation Ricky Rubio went down with a season ending injury, and the Spurs made a few roster moves as Richard Jefferson was traded to Golden...

Darko Listens to Pop Music – Episode 1

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Darko Milicic lets his hair down and cuts loose to ‘Party Rock Anthem’ by LMFAO in this series debut of ‘Darko Listens to Pop Music’.  We have to say that the Timberwolves are pulling all of the stops to market Darko, and it seems to be working.  I’ve watched this 5 times already today. Click here to view the embedded video. via Timberwolves...

Pekovic's absence costs Wolves versus Spurs

It's been just months since few knew his name, weeks since he became an established starter, known for something other than his bulk and his beard. But that's easy to forget on nights like Wednesday, when Nikola Pekovic's absence loomed large for the Timberwolves. The starting center, who has been battling foot and ankle issues recently, flew back to Minneapolis on Wednesday...

Darko Milicic listens to LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (Video)

There are few moments in life that can top the below video and those moments are few and far between as the Minnesota Timberwolves Darko Milicic had Darko Milicic listen to some music. In this clip, Darko listens to LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem:

In new series, ‘Darko Listens to Pop Music,’ Darko Milicic listens to LMFAO (video)

Granted, due to my frequent forays into blatant homerism here at SoB, it could be argued that I might be going a bit overboard with all these Minnesota Timberwolves videos as of late. There seems to be a new one released every couple of days (a quick perusal of the archives will provide sufficient documentation). [...]
