This is a bit of an old story but it sure is a juicy one that not many people know about.  We all know that some people go over the top when it comes to supporting their teams.  But a Memphis restaurant took it to a new extreme this week when they refused to serve San Antonio’s Tony Parker. The restaurant, Restaurant Iris, is owned by world famous chef Kelly English.  English must be a pretty big Grizz fan considering that turning Parker away cost him in the triple digits most likely, due to the high price of the meals.  To put it into perspective, the cost of a New York Strip at Restaurant Iris is $37.00.  Also if you want one of their world famous bottles of wine, it would cost you $65.00. English tried to defend himself after the incident saying that the restaurant has only 13 tables so he cannot just magically create a table for Tony Parker if he were to just walk in.  He went on to say that he sometimes cannot even get his own family into his restaurant.  But I had to investigate this, so I went to Restaurant Iris’s website.  There, I found the reservation part of the page and there are actually no weekend reservations for the next two weekends.  By which time the Spurs/Grizzlies series will be over. But if Parker really wanted to try out a restaurant with a world famous cook, wouldn’t you think he would call ahead?  Who is dumb enough to think that you can just walk into a restaurant with a world famous chef at the helm?  I just have a hard time believing that Parker is that stupid.  It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Parker had a reservation and English just refused to serve him.  After all, shortly after the incident English went to twitter and told his followers that he had rejected Tony Parker. The whole situation is something that can be looked at from many different viewpoints.  If English really did turn Parker away for being on the Spurs, then he should be shunned by the community.  A person is a person, no matter what they do for a job.
