If posters were still popular, Pistons Brandon Knight would absolutely be on one as a result of DeAndre Jordan’s massacre dunk. Some sports writers are getting pretty emotional about the jokes being lobbed – pun intended- Brandon’s way as a result of the baptism. They feel Brandon is being unfairly ridiculed for “doing his job” and being on defense.
Clearly these guys haven’t spent much time around athletes outside of their job. If they had, they’d understand that people giving a guy a hard time for being dunked on IS a part of the game. It doesn’t mean that person is a bad player. It doesn’t mean they are any less of a player, it simply means, he got bashed on. I assure you Brandon isn’t crying in his Gatorade because he got, “got.”
I know we are in a time where every subject is debatable for entertainment purposes and page views and ratings are a HUGE thing is sports media. But at times, the disconnect between the culture of sports and some of these writers is glaring. So to Skip Bayless, Adrian Wojnarowski and others I say, relax. Step off your soap boxes and understand the dunk for what it was, a spectacular play. After all, if nobody stepped up for the defensive challenges, what would we have to laugh at. Lighten up and enjoy the bevy of memes that were born from the dunk.
