In his three seasons in Memphis, Tony Allen has become one of the franchise's most recognizable players and he will remain there for the foreseeable future. Allen, the leading vote-getter on this season's NBA All-Defensive First Team, confirmed in a series of tweets that he has signed back on with the Memphis Grizzlies. The deal is worth four years, 20 million, according to Yahoo! Sports. In typical Allen fashion, his final confirmation via Twitter read: "I'm on my Grizzly." Yes, the Grindfather is back. With Allen back in the mix, Memphis now has its starting five -- Allen, Mike Conley, Tayshaun Prince, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol -- locked up through the 2014-15 season. Allen's backcourt mate, Conley, is also signed through 2015-16 for the Grizzlies, who made it to the Western Conference Finals this season before being bounced by the San Antonio Spurs. The offseason could have brought plenty of turnover if Allen leftafter coach Lionel Hollins was not offered a new contract this offseason. But new headman Dave Joerger (an assistant on Hollins' staff) will now certainly have a familiar foundation to work with. Allen is not the premier offensive threat that most elite NBA shooting guards are, but at 6-foot-4 he can guard multiple positions from point guard Chris Paul to small forward LeBron James and he's been named to an NBA All-Defensive team in all three of his seasons in Memphis. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds over that stretch. The 25th overall pick in 2004, the Oklahoma State product won a championship with Boston, the team that drafted him, in 2008. He signed as a free agent with the Grizzlies in 2010 for three years, 10 million. The deal is set to take Allen, 31, through his 13th season in the league.
