Net fans have been hearing murmurs about this young kid, Tornike Shengelia from the Republic of Georgia, better known as Toko, since he impressed in summer league, averaging 10.2PPG and just about four boards.
With MarShon Brooks out with a sprained ankle last night against the Orlando Magic, and a comfortable 34-point lead, the Nets let the young kid spread his wings a little bit, and he didn’t disappoint. Shengelia nailed a 3, showing his smooth shooting stroke, but that wasn’t the highlight of his night.
While leading 91-57 midway through the fourth quarter, Shengelia made a poster out of fellow rookie Kyle O’Quinn out of Norfolk State University with this vicious dunk that can only be called rookie-on-rookie crime.
