The Portland Trail Blazers' bench has helped the team pick up its scoring - and get back into the win column - after a rough start to their longest trip of the season. Ending that stretch with another strong effort could be asking a lot with the defensive-minded Indiana Pacers up next. Portland looks to close out its seven-game trip with a third consecutive victory Wednesday night when Indiana returns home from its own successful road stretch. The Blazers' reserves are averaging a league-low 14.8 points, and they totaled 57 as the team averaged 86.5 points on the first four games of its trip. Portland's bench, though, is coming off its two best offensive games of the season. Two days after totaling 29 points in an 118-117 double-overtime victory over Cleveland, Luke Babbitt had nine of the bench's 31 points in Monday's 118-112 overtime win over Charlotte. Babbitt made three 3-pointers, including a game-tying shot with 22 seconds left in the fourth period tha...

Portland Trail Blazers Road Trip Comes To An End

It’s over. This road trip did not go well for the Portland Trail Blazers. They finished 2-5 on the road trip and now have an overall record of 8-11 – and they needed three total overtimes to get those two wins. Now the Blazers will try to get back on track as they return to Rip City for a six game home stand. As it sits right now, the Blazers are a lottery team. I don’t...

Master Batum Rules The Night

With a dazzling 17 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal and 1 block, Nicolas Batum showed why he is the darling of the fantasy community. He also seems to be out of his recent “funk,” averaging 19 1/2 points, 10 boards and 1 1/2 blocks in the past 2 games. He joined rookie Damian Lillard (24 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists and an unfortunate 1-8 from three point land) and stud...

Trail Blazers 118, Bobcats 112 (OT)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Portland Trail Blazers pulled off a remarkable comeback on Monday night, rallying from an 18-point deficit in the final six minutes of regulation and beating the Charlotte Bobcats 118-112 in overtime. The Trail Blazers trailed 92-74 with 5:17 left in the fourth quarter before erupting to outscore Charlotte 28-10 to close out regulation. They tied the...

Portland Timbers: Caleb Porter's Plan In Motion

The news came in like a flurry of hailstones yesterday: comings and goings, wheelings and dealings - general happenings and buzz around the Portland Timbers not felt since the beginning of 2012, when so much was possible for last year's team. Now, with new coach Caleb Porter applying his stamp to the Timbers, and the club being reshaped in his mold, Portland seems ready to put...

Byron Mullens Dunks All Over LaMarcus Aldridge

Byron Mullens tossed LaMarcus Aldridge on one of the more nasty posters we have seen this year. Wait, what? You heard that correctly. During today’s game between the Trailblazers and the Bobcats the seven-foot center out of Ohio State took flight from inside the free throw line and soared over Aldridge to complete the one-handed jack hammer. Quite the athletic play from the...

Dunk of the night: BJ Mullens bangs on LaMarcus Aldridge

The Charlotte Bobcats have already won more games this season than last year. While they didn’t win Monday night’s game against the Portland Trailblazers, BJ Mullens certainly had one of the plays of the night with his dunk over LaMarcus Aldridge.   Mullens is having the best season as a pro,  averaging career-highs in points [...]

Batum hurt, owners cry, Babbitt is your father (or something like that)

Last night the Frenchman Nicolas Batum played 29 minutes but posted just 5/4/0 with a steal and a three before exiting stage left with a bad back/shoulder and what not. Uh, oh, not what you want to see from your fantasy basketball small forward extraordinaire, son! On the season Nic is returning solid 2nd round value with season averages of 16/6/3.2 to go along with 1.7 spg, 1.1...

Byron Mullens Gives LaMarcus Aldridge Something To Think About

Things haven't been going well for Portland.  They are cursed with injuries and their team always seems to have a let down in store.  Things can't be worse than Byron "Don't call me BJ" Mullens dunks on you. Hopefully the Blazers do the right thing and trade LaMarcus! #FreeLA

Bobcats run out of gas against Blazers in OT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 13 rebounds, Luke Babbitt hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers and the Portland Trail Blazers overcame an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 118-112 in overtime Monday night. The Blazers trailed 97-79 with 5:17 left in regulation, but stormed back to tie the score and sent it into overtime on Babbitt...

Blazers' sizzling finish produces OT win at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It would have been totally understandable had the Portland Trail Blazers folded down the stretch Monday night. Instead, the Blazers turned the sixth game on a grueling seven-game Eastern road trip into a night to remember. Portland rallied from an 18-point deficit in the final five-plus minutes of regulation, then pulled away for a 118-112 overtime victory...
