The Golden State Warriors were without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green on January 20 earlier this year. Ty Jerome stepped up in their absence and dropped 22 points and eight assists leading the Warriors to a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs made sure this never happened again and signed Jerome to a two-year contract over the Summer when he was a free agent. Cleveland's backup point guard situation had been shaky last year and Jerome's presence adds some much-needed depth.

Most fans probably thought Jerome would have a limited role with the Cavs. However, that may not be the case based on how training camp has gone. J.B. Bickerstaff got real about where Jerome fits into their plans heading into this season:

"He's played a way where it's hard to not put him on the floor. You just watch him play and he makes it easy for everybody else. He's a two-way player, he's a leader, a communicator, a facilitator, he knows how to push the tempo, he knows how to get guys in their spots early."

Bickerstaff also hinted on Wednesday that he's willing to try out an 11-man rotation. One would have to assume that Jerome could play a significant role in this based on J.B.'s previous comments.

Jerome will be playing for his fourth NBA team since making his debut in 2019 but has a real opportunity to find a home with the Cavs and thrive in his role. Cleveland needed more shooting and Jerome hit 38.9 percent from three last season on top of averaging 3.0 assists.

We'll have to wait to see where he fits into all of this, but there certainly is a lot of excitement about what the final product could look like.
