TEAMS: Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets
For this edition of MLM, I asked for the opinions of my fellow writers here at Beantown Banter. Your fabulous owner, Stephen Bailey, suggested Raef LaFrentz. So I said, what the hell? Let’s do the Raefer.
LaFrentz played in Boston from 2003-06 after being traded there from the Dallas Mavericks in a package that sent beloved star Antoine Walker to Dallas. Needless to say, Raef was familiar with Celtics captain Paul Pierce, as they played their college basketball together at the University of Kansas. His best season in green came in 2004-05, when he averaged 11.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and shot a hefty 36.4% from behind the arc.
On draft night 2006, he was shipped off to Portland for Theo Ratliff and Sebastian Telfair. He spent three seasons with the Trail Blazers before retiring after the 2008-09 season.
In his 10 year NBA career, LaFrentz averaged totals of 10.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 1.1 APG. His best season came in 2001-02 with the Denver Nuggets, when he compiled stats of 14.9 PPG and 7.4 RPG.
