It seems every day a member of Team U.S.A. is removing his name from the potential roster due to injury.

Chris Bosh (abdominal injury), Dwayne Wade (knee surgery), Dwight Howard (back surgery), and Anthony Davis (ankle injury) are just a few players who have dropped out of playing in London leaving some holes to fill if Team U.S.A. are going to make what many feel will be a march to Olympic gold.

However, it seems not even the 2012 U.S.A. Select Team (team to scrimmage versus the national team) is immune to losing key players.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears, Knicks' Jeremy Lin and Celtics' Greg Stiemsma have withdrawn from the team due to free agency and injury.

USA Hoops says NYK Jeremy Lin withdraws from Select Team due to free agency while BOS Greg Stiesma withdraws due to plantar fasciatis rehab.

Lin had this to say about removing his name from the Select Team.

“Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to participate in the 2012 USA Men’s Select Team this summer,” said Lin.  ”It was such an incredible honor to be selected, but I have withdrawn my name from the team because of my status as a free agent.  I hope to have the opportunity to participate with USA Basketball at some point in the future.”

Seems U.S.A. Basketball cannot buy a break heading to London.

Though losing Lin and Steimsma won't be a huge lose to the Select Team, however, it does hamper the the national team from fully preparing for the London games.

At this point, Team U.S.A. needs every bit of help considering the team seems to be jinxed. Any set back just casts a shadow on the team's chances at the gold medal when power teams such as Spain and Argentina are raring to go to and strike Team U.S.A. as the team limps into London.

It will be interesting to see if U.S.A. Basketball does make a move to add players to the national team for those empty roster spots. Perhaps dipping into the Select Team would be the first place to look when players such as DeMarcus Cousins, DeJuan Blair, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson and DeMar DeRozen are there to represent the U.S. in London.
