Dick Harter, a veteran NBA assistant who also led Penn to two NCAA tournament appearances, has died at the age of 81. A spokesman for the Island Funeral Home in Hilton Head, S.C., said Tuesday that Harter died Monday night. The cause of death wasn't immediately released and funeral arrangements were pending. Harter was the Charlotte Hornets' first head coach. He was also an assistant with the Indiana Pacers three times before retiring in 2010. He was the defensive coach under Larry Bird when the Pacers reached the NBA Finals in 2000. Before that, he assisted Chuck Daly in Detroit, Pat Riley with the New York Knicks and P.J. Carlesimo in Portland. Harter coached at Rider, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Penn State, compiling a college record of 295-196 and two Ivy League championships with the Quakers.

Granger unsure of his future with Pacers

It's been a pretty good season for the Indiana Pacers.  They're currently second in the Central Division and in a slug fest with Atlanta and Philadelphia for fourth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.  The signing of David West and improved play of Roy Hibbert and Paul George have all contributed to Indiana's improved play this season.  One person who hasn...

Pacers officially back on track with wins over Blazers, 76ers

Okay, so I was skeptical after the 92-75 blowout over the Blazers yesterday. But now I am glad to say the Pacers look like they are officially back on track after another blowout tonight, this time a 111-94 win against arch rivals the Philadelphia 76ers.The Blazers have been sucking bad lately, so it's understandable that the Pacers, who had also been struggling of late, would...

Pacers don't compete against Magic, drop 4th straight

I think it's pretty clear where this year's Pacers team is at, after their fourth consecutive loss, a 107-94 drubbing at the hands of the Magic in Orlando. This team is good enough to beat the crap teams but struggle to beat the good ones. Occasionally, if all cylinders are clicking, if guys are playing up to their potential or if Vogel works his motivation magic...
