PLAYERS: DeMar DeRozan
TEAMS: Toronto Raptors
Tweet Right before the start of the 2012-2013 NBA season, the Toronto Raptors signed DeMar DeRozan to a four-year, $40 million extension off of his rookie deal, hoping he could hone his athleticism and realize his potential. DeRozan didn’t exactly have a breakout year last season, but there’s no question that the raw talent is still there, as he showed on Friday in the preseason against the Knicks: Tell ‘em how you feel, DeMar! It’s always impressive to me when a player can throw down a dunk, get hit and not even be slowed by the contact, which is what happened there. The physical tools are there with DeRozan, as plays like that show. If he can ever get it all to click, he could easily outplay that contract of his.

Steve Novak disappointed in last season’s playoff benching while playing for Knicks

The Knicks were in Toronto for a preseason game against the Raptors on Friday so all eyes were on the players involved in the trade that went down between the teams this summer.
