Former Celtic Tony Allen was interviewed by the media after the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Boston Celtics tonight, and offered his analysis as to why the Celtics are struggling. Allen feels as though the Celtics are still missing some important pieces:
"I don't think they've really got a defensive-minded guy yet," added
Allen. "I mean, they've got one [Avery Bradley], but I can't say he's
100 percent just yet. I don't think they've got the center like Perk
[Kendrick Perkins]. It's kind of hard finding a guy like -- a guy who
clogs up the paint, talks trash to you and can actually back it up.
They're just missing a lot. I don't know. I don't see the same team from
just know they're a heck of a team," he said. "They're tough. Those
guys have arrived. They've been there. They've done it before, so like
they always say, you can never test the heart of a champion."

Tweet Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies is one of the NBA’s better defenders. He was a member of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2011 and First Team last year. Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is one of the more crafty players in the league with the ball in his hands, known [...]

The Boston Celtics are struggling in 2012-2013. As the schedule turns from 2012 to 2013, the Boston Celtics are two games below .500 and their troubles are highlighted by a post-Christmas west-coast swing where they lost three games to the Warriors, the Clippers and the Kings by an average of 21 points...
Nothing Earth shattering here, considering January 2nd has been the rumored date all along, but still, good to see this coming out of today's practice, from Scott Souza and A. Sherrod Blakely.

It took Fab Melo a grand total of six months on an NBA roster to be featured in a Deadspin article for his stupidity. And it’s probably surprising to many that it didn’t happen sooner.
When the news first came out that Syracuse’s former brilliant Brazilian was called up from the Celtics’ D-League team, it sounded encouraging. But it turns out Melo...
Celtics rookie Fab Melo suffered a concussion last weekend after bumping his head on the doorway in his Sioux Falls hotel room while the Maine Red Claws (Melo’s NBA Development League assignment) were in South Dakota for back-to-back games against the Skyforce.
Melo was seen by the Red Claws medical staff and did not play in the team’s Monday afternoon game. On Wednesday, the...
Something Mark pointed to in this post right here is how similar the Celtics record was to last year's. Really, it is strange how similar the two teams are, yet also how alarmingly different.
A lot of Celtics fans are kind of hanging their hat on the flip switching the Celtics did at the end of the season last year. It's not a bad argument. They've done it before, they...
For those of you waiver wire mavens out there, you might have seen that the Boston Celtics have recalled rookie Fab Melo from the NBDL's Maine Red Claws. The explanation was that Melo had suffered a concussion and needed to receive treatment for the injury. As you might have figured out from the title, Melo suffered the injury when he ran into a door according to the below tweet...
WALTHAM, Mass. — Avery Bradley may be making his return at just the right time for the Celtics, who must be wondering if their backcourt will ever be whole.
Rajon Rondo did not practice on Tuesday, and Celtics coach Doc Rivers said earlier in the day that the point guard is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies. Rondo has a bruised right thigh and hip as a result...
With all the controversy surrounding helmet-to-helmet hits and concussions in the NFL, it’s about time we start talking about low hanging door hinges and 7-foot NBA players.
Celtics rookie center Fab Melo suffered a concussion walking into a door while in Sioux Falls, S.D., last week, according to Chris Forsberg of ESPN.com. Melo returned to Boston from the NBADL to treat the injury...
The guys wore ties… Kurt compares the Celtics to communism… and Stats preaches patience in the latest episode of Gang Green TV. There’s also the requisite trade speculation, Avery Bradley discussion, and even a Star Wars mention.
Another great show from the guys…. and as an added bonus, here’s the show you didn’t see from before Christmas because… well… I’m the...
7:30: Well, tonight the Celtics will be forced to play the now proud Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies, who are 19-9, have oddsmakers favoring them by 2.5 points in this one. Memphis is not a great road team, as they are just 6-6 away from the FedEx Forum. The Celtics, who are just 14-16 overall, are 9-5 at the Garden but haven't won there since December 19. Tonight will feature...
During practice Tuesday, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said the team will be graced with the return of Avery Bradley, who hasn’t played in seven months and is coming off surgery on both his shoulders, for Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Bradley said he hasn’t felt any pressure, he’s just happy to be back.
“Just like any other day, I’m going to prepare today...
Fab Melo is a huge prospect, with raw talent. Celtics had him doing development with the Red Claws. But earlier this week Melo suffered a concussion….walking into a doorway.
Yup. Walked in a doorway in his hotel room down in South Dakota.
“I still have a little headache. Sometimes I can’t really focus on something for a long time, that’s it.” – Fab Melo

The change is not lost on seventh-year Celtic Rajon Rondo.
“We’re not playing it (defense),” the point guard said following the Celtics loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. “I don’t know (why). We’ve just got to try to take it one step at a time. It starts with me so I’ve just got to hold myself more accountable.”
“Just our trust, our trust isn’t there...
