The " Big 3" in Boston of Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett ("Big 4" if you want to throw in Rajon Rondo) is one of the most respected, accomplished group of teammates of all time. It seems like those guys have been together forever and they’ve been led by their coach, Doc Rivers, to an NBA title and some other solid runs to go along with it.
Pierce says Rivers is a special coach and he’s the only one who can handle the reins of the Celtics team, but Garnett says San Antonio Spurs’ Coach Gregg Popovich (who recently won the 2011-12 Coach if the Year) might be able to handle the job (h/t John at Red's Army).
Check out what KG had to say about Pop at the six minute point of the video below.

Kevin Garnett loves Boston Celtics, Boston Celtics love Kevin Garnett
Kevin Garnett loves this year’s Celtics. They are grit and balls. They play hard as ****. They are his type of team, a team that sticks together like the GSE firm in Green Street Hooligans, standing by each other’s side and throwing haymakers as dangerous brawls break out all around them, or more accurately, as they seek out dangerous brawls. Sometimes, when I close my eyes...
Kevin Garnett May Have Received Motivation He Needed With Ivan Johnson's 'Dirty' Remark'
It does not take much to motivate Kevin Garnett. His motivational tool for this season has been the perception that he is "old," but even before Garnett hit the big 3-0, he was drawing inspiration from other seemingly innocuous sources. This is a guy who takes offense to being a called a "center," for cripes sake. Ivan Johnson may not know this. He did spend two...
Spurs Gregg Popovich Receives NBA Coach Of The Year Award
“NBA.com” has reported that San Antonio Spurs bench boss Gregg Popovich was named the NBA Coach Of The Year Award. Popovich who has been the Spurs head coach for the last 16 seasons, won the award for the second time; he also received it for the 2002-2003 campaign.
Popovich did a very skilful job during the regular season as he led his squad to a mark of 50-16; tying the...
Hawks Rookie Ivan Johnson Calls Kevin Garnett 'Dirty Player,' Considers Celtics 'Whole Bunch of Mess-Talkers'
Hawks forward Ivan Johnson's questionable behavior is well-documented, but he apparently doesn't have the stomach for Kevin Garnett's style of play. The 28-year-old rookie voiced his displeasure following Atlanta's practice on Monday, calling into question KG's integrity. "Garnett, he's a dirty player," Johnson said. "He gives me a lot of elbows...

Popovich Modeled Spurs After Jazz When Taking Job
When Gregg Popovich took over the Spurs in the mid-90s, he sought to create a formula of small market success similar to the Jazz.
Scrub Hawks big man Ivan Johnson rips "Dirty" KG, Celtics
Boston Herald
Add another name to the ever-expanding list of Kevin Garnett’s critics. Hawks rookie forward Ivan Johnson became the latest to join the chorus this afternoon after Hawks practice.
“Garnett, he’s a dirty player,” Johnson said. “He gives me a lot of elbows and I can handle that.”
Johnson said he expected that Garnett and the Celtics would attempt to do things...
Ivan Johnson was ready for KG's dirty play
Kevin Garnett has a way of getting under his opponent's skin. It is part of his psychological warfare on his opponents. It has what has made him great and what has made him hated.
Ivan Johnson became a household name (sort of) after a big game on national TV. The TNT crew loved his tenacity and grit and the energy he brought to the game. Johnson is not someone who is going to...
Spurs' Greg Popovich wins NBA Coach of the Year award
Before the season started, the San Antonio Spurs still had some doubters with their Big Three in Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili aging. It showed last season when the No. 1 seed fell in the first round to an upset loss with the Memphis Grizzlies, who were even without Rudy Gay.Head Coach Gregg Popovich shut the critics up this season, leading San Antonio to yet another...
NBA GM on Anthony Davis: 'He might end up being a little better than Kevin Garnett'
As quickly as Anthony Davis shot up from a six-foot tall wing playing freshman in High School, expectations of what the now 6-foot-10 big man from Kentucky could soon be on the next level are rising even quicker.
In a recent Sports Illustrated article, Sam Amick quoted one Western Conference General Manager who said that Davis is probably going to be better than Blake Griffin. Before...
Celtics-Hawks, Game 2: Celtics win their latest bar fight, even series
Brandon Bass opened the second half by missing an uncontested putback from two inches away. Kevin Garnett missed a bunny on the next possession. Shortly thereafter, Mickael Pietrus caught the ball with an open court in front of him. He stopped, gathered his surroundings, and threw a pass to the wrong team. With 3:08 remaining in the third frame, Joe Johnson canned a three-pointer...
Bulls' Thibodeau has nothing but praise for Popovich
If you consider the fact that reigning MVP Derrick Rose missed almost half the season to various injuries, the Chicago Bulls had a hell of a season. The Bulls still would've had a hell of a season even if Rose hadn't missed all those games. They finished with the same record as the San Antonio Spurs and looked great, especially on defense even when Rose was out. Much...
