When Manu Ginobili and his San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks for the 2nd time this season in another blowout (this time on their home floor), you would've thought the Mavs would've been more competitive since the Spurs blew them out the week before. If you're a Spurs fan, you might argue the Spurs are the better team by far. If you're a Mavs fan, you might just agree with what Manu Ginobili said after the game. Ginobili stated the Mavericks were not "inspired" this game and it showed. They have a new team and the rivalry just isn't there without the likes of Jason Terry or Jason Kidd rekindling it in some way. They have too many new pieces all around and those pieces don't have a history with San Antonio either, but you'd still believe they should've played with more fire this game. It doesn't matter what uniform you wore last season or are wearing this season, if a team blows you out you should come back with more fire in the rematch. The Mavs still have two more games against the Spurs this season, maybe their pride will kick in when game three comes on January 25th.

Video: Looney Tunes cartoon once again gives Spurs' Ginobili a shout out

It seems the writers for the animated cartoon "Looney Tunes" must be fans of San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili. During a recent episode of the kid's cartoon show, once again "Lola Bunny" showed her affection for Manu by having a part in a play based on Ginobili which was to be played by "Speedy Gonzales." Makes sense seeing how both are quite...

Ginobili's mission for this season is clear

Postseasons have been disappointing for San Antonio Spurs fans lately ever since 2007 when the team won their last NBA championship. No one can say the Spurs didn't try to win since then, they just didn't have the pieces to put a championship caliber team together. Last year looked promising, but the chemistry the team seemed to build in a small amount of time proved...

Stephen Jackson sprains ankle falling on courtside waitress (Video)

San Antonio Spurs forward Stephen Jackson sprained his ankle in the first quarter of Thursday night's game at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks when he fell on a courtside waitress. The waitress was crouched down by the front row and reportedly in the midst of serving NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg when Jackson stepped backwards after taking a 3-point shot and...

Spurs forward Stephen Jackson has left San Antonio's game against the Knicks after spraining his right ankle when he crashed into a waitress working the sideline in front of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Jackson was hurt in the first quarter Thursday night when he shot a 3-pointer from the corner. The shot missed and he stepped backward out of bounds and onto the waitress...

Spurs come to town with six-game win straak

Coming off another stifling defensive display, the San Antonio Spurs carry plenty of momentum into the new year. The Spurs try to extend their season-high winning streak to seven Wednesday night as they open a two-game trek against the Milwaukee Bucks. One night after cruising to a 111-86 win at Dallas, San Antonio (25-8) blew out Brooklyn 104-73 on New Year's Eve. Tony Parker...

Splitter taking pressure off Duncan

Tiago Splitter is probably not going to ever be a 20 and 10 guy. He’s not going to dominate the post, grab every rebound and assert his muscle down low. Luckily for the Spurs, that’s not what they need from him. At least not right now. What they need from Splitter is for him to take the pressure off Tim Duncan. That’s what the Spurs have been searching for for years. As...

Veteran, gritty Spurs humble host Bucks

MILWAUKEE -- The way the San Antonio Spurs are currently playing, it's going to take a perfect performance from an opponent to beat them. Flying under the radar as they so often do, the Spurs put on a clinic Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, leading for all but 40 seconds in a 117-110 win over the Bucks. It was San Antonio's league-leading seventh victory...

Spurs 117, Bucks 110

Tim Duncan had 28 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, and the San Antonio Spurs used torrid first-half shooting to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 117-110 Wednesday night for their seventh consecutive victory. Tony Parker added 23 points and 11 assists for the Spurs, who shot 52 percent from the field for the game and withstood a second-half rally by the Bucks. Brandon Jennings paced...

Bucks prevent blowout, make Spurs work for victory

For one half of basketball on Wednesday, it seemed as if the San Antonio Spurs were going to not only extend their six-game winning streak to seven, but they might also get to rest their starters in blowout fashion as the Spurs went into halftime against the Milwaukee Bucks leading by 17 points. The Spurs did win Wednesday 117-110, but the second half was a battle as the Bucks...

Duncan scores 28 to lead Spurs over Bucks 117-110

By Andrew Wagner, The Sports Xchange MILWAUKEE -- On the final box score, it was a close game. Very close. Close enough that one might think San Antonio’s biggest lead -- 21 points -- was a typo. But the San Antonio Spurs’ 117-110 victory over the Bucks on Wednesday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center wasn’t close at all. The Spurs’ seventh consecutive victory -- though...

Knicks-Spurs: Stephen Jackson Injured By A Waitress, JR Smith Gets Nasty...

((HT: NBA/MSG/Youtube)) The HQ, admittedly, isn't that much of an NBA fan... But when these things happen on the parkay floor, we'll bite... First, JR Smith just gets abusive... Pablo Prignioni has good eyesight... Then, there's the whole notion that when Gregg Popovich rested his guys and sent them home early and he caught hell for it. THIS IS WHY HE...

Knicks end Spurs' 7-game win streak with fourth quarter run

Thursday was the San Antonio Spurs’ fifth game in seven nights. Here’s how the Spurs’ shooting percentage looked: 28-of-77 attempted shots (36%). 9-of-34 attempted 3-pointers (27%). The result of what could have been tired legs, a New York Knicks 100-83 victory that erupted one minute into the fourth quarter. Credit has to be given to the Knicks’ defense as well as they...

Knicks 100, Spurs 83

NEW YORK -- This time, there was no need to complain about the absence of the San Antonio Spurs' stars by the end of a marquee matchup. The New York Knicks had made it completely reasonable for Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to rest them at the end of New York's 100-83 rout at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points for the Knicks and point...

Shootaround: Garden party

San Antonio Spurs (26-8) vs. New York Knicks (21-10) 7:30 p.m. It is Thursday night. Two top NBA teams are playing each other with inter-conference positioning on the line. There are plenty of stars to drive up ratings. And the game is in New York? So why is TNT on its New Years' break? Usually when a game like this happens it gets the full national television treatment...
