PLAYERS: Nick Young
TEAMS: Los Angeles Lakers
Tweet Nick Young has developed a reputation over his time in the NBA as quite the scorer. His shot selection shows no remorse and he’ thinks he can make any shot on the floor. Let’s hope this shot that he hit before one of the Lakers’ preseason games in Shanghai doesn’t throw his confidence even further into the realm of irrationality: If there’s one player in the league who would try that shot in live game action, wouldn’t it have to be Nick Young? I hope Swaggy P is around forever and never changes.

VIDEO: Nick Young gets up court quickly after steal and throws down dunk in transition

This is where the Lakers are a little different this year. Last season, the purple and gold didn’t really have a guy who could change ends quickly and then finish strong with a dunk. Metta World Peace, who obviously has strengths in other areas, is just too slow at this point in his career to pull off a fast break effectively in order to land his team some easy points. Nick Young...

Kobe Bryant responds to ESPN ranking him as 25th best player in the NBA

When ESPN ranked Kobe Bryant as the 25th best player in the NBA earlier this week, everyone was waiting for his reaction. Would he give an expletive-laden interview? Maybe a simple tweet saying “lol” would suffice? Bryant has done neither so far, and it seemed he was just going to ignore the ranking altogether. That’s until Eric Pincus from the Los Angeles Times spotted the...

Nick Young a Tremendous Offseason Addition By the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are among several teams currently in China competing in exhibition games for the entertainment of China’s massive NBA fan base — estimated at close to 450 million people. The most recent of these preseason games saw the Lakers falling to the Golden State Warriors 100 to 95 on Tuesday evening but before the final buzzer sounded we got to see a lot more of...

Kobe Bryant sends message with his new Twitter avatar

Ever since Kobe Bryant joined the world of Twitter, he has hashed out some quality tweets.  Some can be called “subtweets”, which is defined as a tweet that is directed […]

Lakers News: Kobe Bryant says Achilles is “tight” but feels good about progress

There’s less than two weeks to go until opening night and we still don’t know when Kobe Bryant will be ready to make his much anticipated return to the court. The Black Mamba is making progress, but it’s hard to determine just how quickly that progress is coming along. During an interview with reporters on Thursday, Bryant revealed that his Achilles’ tendon was still “tight”...

Lakers News: Nick Young says Clippers covering Lakers’ banners and retired jerseys is “disrespectful”

On Friday night, the Los Angeles Clippers revealed their new look arena for this season. As you’ve probably heard by now, the Clippers covered the Lakers’ championship banners and retired jerseys with banners featuring enormous images of their own players. This upset Lakers swingman Nick Young. Young, who played for the Clippers in 2012, called the move “disrespectful” and...

3 Reasons why Kobe Bryant’s ESPN Ranking Is Ridiculous

3 Reasons why Kobe Bryant’s ESPN Ranking Is Ridiculous By Milan George: Hoopstuff Writer.. As the NBA season inches closer, has once again come out with their NBA Player Rankings. These are usually only talked about, because of their controversial rankings and this one takes the cake, as many people are scratching their heads that they named Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar...

VIDEO: Kobe Bryant sprints, shoots and dribbles in Shanghai

The fans in Shanghai didn’t get to see Kobe Bryant play in the pre-season game that they attended on Friday, but they got the next best thing: the opportunity to witness Bryant working out on the court as he continues to recover from Achilles surgery in April. While his teammates were warming up for their game against the Golden State Warriors, Bryant was getting in a good workout...

Lakers back to work following China trip

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Lakers held practice Sunday morning after spending nine days in China as ambassadors for NBA global expansion. It was a much lighter affair than most training camp practices, with the regular grind to be resumed Monday. To a player, everyone said they had a great time visiting the Great Wall and performing in front of a basketball-mad country in Shanghai...

Lakers waive guard Darius Johnson-Odom

The Lakers waived guard Darius Johnson-Odom on Wednesday. Johnson-Odom was originally drafted by the team with the 55th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft but was cut during the 2012-13 season by the Lakers. He rejoined the organization for training camp and made three preseason appearances averaging 3.7 points and 1.3 assists in 8.2 minutes a game. The Lakers now have 16 players...

Kobe Bryant’s Aspiration to Be Like Floyd Mayweather Surprisingly Apt, In More Ways Than One

Perhaps scientists should look into whether being globally reviled serves as fuel for aging athletes. The empirical evidence is uncanny. At 35 and 36 years old, respectively, Kobe Bryant and Floyd Mayweather are performing at levels that really shouldn’t be possible in their sports. Michael Jordan‘s last season as a top-five NBA player came when he was 34. Muhammad Ali was never...

VIDEO: Nick Young throws down the fast break alley-oop in Shanghai

Swaggy Shanghai. After throwing down a dunk in transition just moments earlier, Nick Young again was wowing the Chinese crowd after Chris Kaman created a turnover. Steve Blake pushed the ball and, over the top of the defense, found a running Young who threw down the ball to complete the alley-oop slam. The crowd erupted. Young was all smiles. Good to see. .bottom-of-post-responsive...

Clippers Replace Lakers' Title Banners For Home Games At Staples Center

None of the Los Angeles Lakers' banners -- championship, retired or special ones -- will be displayed by the Los Angeles Clippers when they play home games at Staples Center this season. Making their exhibition debut for the 2013-14 season on Friday, seven oversized Clippers banners hide every bit of the Lakers' storied history. From left to right, banners of Jamal Crawford...

Dwight Howard says his decision to leave the Lakers was inspired by Batman

With his latest explanation as to why he decided to not re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers and instead join the Houston Rockets organization, it certainly seems like Dwight Howard is attempting to co-opt the entire DC Comics superhero universe, leaving only secondary characters for the rest of his NBA colleagues. Why? Because Howard, already […]The post Dwight Howard says his...
