PHOTO: Basket Session Last night was yet another solid outing for the rookie out of Duke. In 30 minutes against the Phoenix Suns, Ryan Kelly registered 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. Not bad for a guy who the Los Angeles Lakers selected with the 48th overall pick during last year’s draft. Kelly has most certainly earned himself a spot on the Lakers next season. The team can lock him up for one more year thanks to his $1 million qualifying offer. During the month of March, the 22-year-old has averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, one steal and just under one block in 25.9 minutes per game. Kelly has also shot 48 percent from three-point range and 90 percent from the free throw line. At this rate, it appears that Kelly will wind up being named to the All-Rookie team. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } } The post VIDEO: Ryan Kelly steals the ball, dribbles behind his back and throws down the dunk in transition appeared first on Lakerholicz.com.

Los Angeles Lakers reasons for optimism

Kobe gives a thumbs up at Staples Center during 2012 NBA playoffs. (via ESPN.com) The Los Angeles Lakers don’t look to be in a good spot right now, that is for sure. Not with giving your old, petulant, washed up former superstar a ludicrous contract extension, unstable leadership from ownership, a lame duck coach, and dreadful roster. Having said all of that, the Lakers will probably...

Report: Lakers to keep Steve Nash through next year

The question with the Lakers as it pertains to often-injured point guard Steve Nash is whether to bite bullet on his $9.7 million salary for next year in the last year of his contract or use the stretch provision afforded in the CBA to waive him (spreading his money out over multiple seasons but removing him from the cap). The Los Angeles Times reports the Lakers will keep the former...

Robert Sacre a rare bright spot

Amid a Lakers season filled with flimsy defense, there remains one consistent presence that hustles on every possession. Amid a team filled with players who occasionally try to pad their statistics, the Lakers have one player who does not worry about such a thing. Amid a roster filled with potential free agents who have uncertain futures, there’s one player that has no such concern...

Lakers set final deadline to renew season tickets for May 19, NBA Draft Lottery is May 20. Coincidence?

The Lakers are wrapping up one of their worst seasons in franchise history, and with a future full of uncertainty, the team appears to be taking no chances in terms of its season ticket sales.
