The biggest question coming into the 2012 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat was if the Heat were going to be able to find a way to guard the Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Heat found a way to stop Harden, but Durant and Westbrook showed that they have certain skills that the Heat can flat out not guard. Durant’s length turned out to be the biggest problem for the Heat. They tried using Shane Battier, but Durant was way too quick and athletic for Battier. They also used Lebron James at times, but he was often dedicated to shutting down one of the Thunder’s other players. Durant finished with a game high 36 points, 17 of which were in the 4th quarter.

If the Heat want a chance of winning the series, they’ll have to devote James to guarding Durant and make the Thunder win with another one of their stars. The Heat’s other big problem last night was the quickness of Westbrook. There is no one on the Heat’s roster who can match Westbrook’s quickness and he showed that last night as he scored 27 points to go along with his 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Catch game two of the NBA Finals Thursday night at 9pm on ABC...
