TEAMS: Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder
The Dallas Mavericks fell to interstate opponents, the San Antonio Spurs, on Thursday night by a score of 92-91. It was a great game, and we saw some incredible plays. Vince Carter turned back to clock on this strong move to the cup. Talk about “Vinsanity”! Carter takes the much younger Kawhi Leonardoff the dribble, penetrates the middle, and finishes off the circus shot with a bit of contact from Tim Duncan. It’s plays like this that made us call him “Half Man, Half Amazing” back in his prime. This strong bucket came with about 4 minutes to go in the game and cut the Spurs’ lead to 5 (89-84). Alas, the more talented Spurs squad walked away with the win, but the surging Mavs gave them all they could handle in San Antonio’s house. Vince finished the game with 10 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds off the bench. Dirk Nowitzki led the way for Dallas with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but it was all about Tim Duncan and his 28 points and 19 boards. For the Spurs, winning this game at home was a must, as they hold a slim, 1.5 game lead on the Oklahoma City Thunder, as they try to keep a grasp on the number 1 seed in the Western Conference as we roll into the post-season.
